Has anybody seen this movie?

Do you think that kind of stuff goes on behind the scenes? Backroom battles between the CIA, Congressmen and the Pentagon?

I'll bet it does EVERY SINGLE DAY in this administration.

Backroom battles between the CIA, Congressmen and the Pentagon?
View Quote

Think about power-hungry Congressmen, including Senators, who have their sights on high office, lucrative careers on the public dole out, and influence-peddling kick-backs.  At what point and time do they solicit their friends in the intelligence community to act as insider traders of political secrets, in the game of collecting "dirt cards" on competitors, rivals, and threats?  Every figure has their own agenda in D.C., and many of the agendas are aligned on certain things.

Case in point
There was an intel agency operative who was known as "The Angel of Death" in Washington.  He would make visits to Congressmen who had played their cards, and the House won.  Shortly after, a controlled scandal or lame excuse would be offered publicly that they were no longer seeking re-election, as "...it was learned that they inadvertently hired an illegal cleaning lady." or, "They needed to spend more time with their families.", or "...an affair had surfaced that required them to step down" (like that ever stopped any of them).

This guy also testified in sworn depositions before closed door court cases involving sensitive espionage crimes where intellectual property was being illegally sold by third parties to unauthorized foreign customers during no less than 3 Presidential Administrations.

Consider a Scenario Like This
Imagine a scenario where you have a lot of people in the FBI, DOJ, & NSA actually doing their jobs in a high-level counter-intelligence case, where the primary targets are actual high-level White House employees and at least one member of the First Family, and the evidence dates back well over a decade when one of the employees was a senior partner at a prestigious law firm in the State he came from.  His travel habits involve making 12-20 overnight trips to Switzerland every year, since the mid-1980's, and he had access to one of the most sensitive electronic surveillance programs shared by DOJ, FBI, NSA, CIA, and others.

Lower-level workers in the NSA discover this person is selling out his Country, using the same program they are using to monitor his banking and financial affairs, and later seize his bank accounts.

One of his co-conspirators in the case (which is sealed because of the extremely sensitive nature of the compromised programs) is the First Lady, who alerts the primary target (Swiss travel bag man) of the indictment against him when he finds out that his, the President's, and her bank accounts in Switzerland are now empty.  She already knows, and begins distancing herself from him, even though he is a "life-long friend".  He starts to suffer from extreme anxiety, gets a prescription for anxiety and insomnia, and is found dead of a gunshot wound to his head, 2 weeks after cancelling his last intended Swiss travel plans.

Sound like a great plot to a political-spy thriller?

Yeah, only thing is that it actually happened.
The bag man "life-long friend", and senior law partner of the Rose Law Firm is none other than Vince Foster.
The First lady co-conspirator was Hillary Rodham Clinton.
You think that all the officers out of Fort Meade, Langley, the Pentagon, and the Hoover Building who knew about this didn't use this information for their agendas? Many of them actually thought there needed to be consequences, but were constrained by the fact that making any of it public would expose probably the most sensitive electronic espionage program they had.

In the end, both political parties and the Intel communities wanted it to go away, as bad as the whole mess was, but it was a dirty set of drawers that nobody wanted hung out for anyone to see.  I think the whole affair is ready for a Michael Mann-directed production.

LRRPF52,

So the former President of the United States and the former first lady were criminals above and beyond any white water stuff.
A ton of top gov't people knew this but not only kept quiet but hide the entire thing which allowed the following to happen
1. The former first lady goes onto become a NYS Senator
2. Former NYS Senator runs for the democratic nomination to become president
3. Former presidential candidate than becomes the Secretary of State which gives her access to the most classsified data
4. Former Secretary of State may use this to run for the Presidency of the United States, again.

Forgive me for questioning your theories. Be funny if true, and if so I do not want to hear anyone question me
when I continue to say that the first moon landing was faked.

You're missing motive and opportunity. You need opportunity, capability, and motive. Why would anyone want to fake the moon landing? Would USSR be able to confirm earth orbit of anything we launched? If it was faked and the USSR confirmed earth orbit, what then?

As a youth, I remember when this film was released and the buzz it got for the limo love scene...

As I got older, Sean Young hit on me at a film festival gala.  She even had her manager ask if I wanted to escort Ms. Young back to her place.  As much as I was tempted to hit some moonbat replicant pie, I turned down the offer.  I ended up with a Slovakian model instead. Dated her for about a year.  Burt Young, Pauley in the Rocky films introduced us to one another.

I know, csb...

SY was tier one crazy though...
