Bennett is an epically stupid man, and his grading system is a disgrace. He has manipulated the system to favor Charter Schools in INdiana, and while some thrive, MANY have failed. 8 of 10 of the worst scoring schools in his grading system are Charter schools (it's supposedly an "improvement" based system).
His grading system SHOULD have favored low performing charter schools, the way it was written, but it did not. One problem is that Indiana allows almost any goober to open a Charter school. There are some very well run and successful Charter schools here, but Bewnnett's plan has been a failure. And now, apparently, he is revealed as corrupt as well as stupid. :/ There are shenanigans going on in this state a bit. For example, Mitch Daniels had appointed the majority of Purdue's while governor.... and when he left office, they elect him the new President of Purdue, despite no experience in Academia at all. Cronyism much? |
