Hello guys, I'm looking for an optic for my flat top AR, ( it's a mutt build with a 20" CMP 1 in 7 twist HB) with a low profile gas block installed. Now here comes the hard part, I would like it to be similar in nature to an AimPoint,  but with at least 4 to 6 power in magnification and cost less than an Acog. Anything come to mind guys. Thanks for your help.

Aimpoint with a magnifier? Thats gonna cost as much as an ACOG though, unless you cheap out on the magnifier.

What about a regular rifle scope with a red dot?

The top two are the ones I'm contemplating on getting.
As of now I'm leaning towards the leupold, looked through one the other day and I almost broke down and bought it.
Have yet to look through the vortex viper

You can't go wrong with a burris ar332 or ar536.

Something like this?    Burris AR 536
It's only 5x however.

This looks interesting, but it will cost an arm & a leg I bet.  Coming out this fall:

VCOG

Just get an Elcan Specter DR and be done with it.
It's 1 and 4x, has an illuminated reticle and a red dot.

I've had very good luck so far with the 1-4x Trijicon Accupoint on my 556 Patrol

Red Dot: Primary Arms Microdot w/ Riser

6x magnifier

Get yourself a pivot/flip mount for the magnifier and call it good.

At least, and God forbid You ever have to send it in for a repair.
And it's heavy as Shit and some had POA/ POI shift on the 1 to 4 switchover.

For that price the ACOG is the way to go but that is a whole other thread.

I sent my Elcan in for a defective heli coil for the MRD mount. It wasn't a bad experience. And they over nighted it on their dime
