I'm fond of '73 for another reason: My car was built in '73 (I'm pretty sure. I'd have to check the VIN again). https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/99_591651383804_8917_n.jpg nice.. |

The thing I remember about 1973 is that all the TV stations would go off the air at around 11:30pm ![]() Oh dude, I completely forgot about the TV going off at night. Sometimes with static, others would have that logo thing playing with a loud tone to wake you up. Haven't though about that in years.. Man Im old. |

Had to go out in the yard to change channels, yell out the window while one of us moved the antenna and pointed it at the right TV tower. " a little more! little more! Whoa! Too far! Go back a little! I remember 1973, the year we got Central Air conditioning installed. Just had the whole house attic fan prior to that. In Florida.

| In '73 we only had 5 channels, sometimes 6 if the wind turned the antenna a little more south, they went off the air with the Star Spangled Banner. Channel 2 (PBS) had British comedy on Friday nights and I got my fill of Monty Python, Benny Hill and others from an early age. |

I see you're one of those showy people. My car was never in shows, because it was a 20 footer at best. Looks great in the picture I put up. Walk closer and you'll notice the hail damage (car was primed when I bought it as someone elses half finished project, didn't discover the small dents until I painted it.), the small rust bubbles over the rear wheel wells, the body panels not quite perfectly aligned.....but it was pretty quick, and loud...what more does a 17 year old need?
We had a lot of fun together until this happened while I was in college: (apologies in advance for car whoring in a music thread)
So I spend my Christmas and summer break before senior year yanking everything off like this:
To turn it into this:
New springs, shocks, disc brake upgrade, new suspension bushings all the way around, sandblasted and repainted all the metal..... And then I graduated, got married, moved, bought a house, etc.....so that's the current status and has been for 4 years....no motor, no other work done. Someday she'll be on the road again. I just can't decide if I'm going to swap out the body I recently picked up for $200 since it's nicer, or say fuck it, find a donor 4 door's frame to steal and build twins...one for the drag strip with a retardedly large motor, flat black paint, no back seat and race suspension, and one for daily driving with good road suspension, nice body work, an automatic, maybe even A/C. Twins are hot.....

Class of '73 here, too.
Moved out of the folk's house within days of graduating, bought a 69 chevy van. Had it painted canary yellow with black trim & put baby moon hubcaps on the wheels. Needed that to haul the big ass, double bass drum kit I bought the same week (clear plexiglass) and for all the other ass I was (hoping to be) draggin' around as well. Wish I still had both. You young guys...enjoy your youth. The women don't come around nearly as often as they used to. |
