I set un an account back in 2008. Thinking about taking it hot at this time.
Anybody here using twitter? Worth it for family, business, friends? Or is it just a popularity toy? |

there are definitely too many people on twitter who think their tweets matter who (consequently) tweet too much.
BUT... Twitter is the most effective mass communication tool ever devised. If you're following the right people, organizations, and hash tags, you will have information faster than anyone other than the first-person observers. |

It's an excellent marketing tool if you can get followers, and it's a great way to stay on top of breaking news.
I hardly ever tweet, but I follow a number of news orgs, .gov agencies, and some businesses and orgs that I am interested in. (beer, firearms, photography, outdoor activities) |

Don't follow friends or random "I'm importants". I follow politicians that represent me, local news and police agencies, and a few sports related things as my guilty "Don't take everything too seriously" pleasure. I follow a few other Arfcom guy as well. Believe it or not, politicians actually give a crap what people are saying to them on twitter, so I use it to encourage them to vote the right way on issues. |

It keeps me plugged in to the worldwide community for the software platform that pays my bills. I don't use my acct for anything outside of the office, save for the occasional banter between friends I've made along the way.
I suppose I could create a second account for personal stuff and switch up the cilents, but I don't have that many F's to give. I've got better things to do @ home than keep up with tweets |

I don't send out many Tweets, but I use the heck out of it as a "keeping up with the times" tool. By following people and companies/organizations that I am interested in I keep in the loop. I have not used mine much for business, it pays me nothing and most of my clientele aren't heavy twitter users, but for certain industries, I see a huge boon. |
