| The doctors I know, and I know MANY, do not have the time to ask that kind of question or other non-relevant questions to form a diagnosis or update a patient's medical information. They are typically are doing everything they can to document the dozens of other things they have to do, especially now with electronic health record programs, and get on to the next patient. To turn a decent profit doctors have to see as many patients as they can fit into their schedules. Asking bullshit questions like "do you own firearms" or "what's your favorite my little pony" is just a waste of their time. |

I had to change doctors recently and the new doctor's patient survey also asked about my gun ownership and storage. I've read about the practice before on AR15 so, I wasn't shocked.
But, I was tempted to write in......... "None of your F#@^ing business." But, being that my last doctor was pro gun and pro US Military, I just decided to answer the questions. Course, when you think about it......... What's the use of having a home defense firearm that 's un-loaded and/or not available to every family member (w/in reason)? Want to call that, "unsafe?" Sorry but, I'd disagree. Aloha, Mark |
| I love how they think that anyone will be remotely honest when asked these questions that are completely unrelated to diagnosis, and in this day most places controversial and immediately raise the suspicions of many gun owners. People are not honest with them about the pertinents for their care most of the time, and yet they tout these stats like they mean something. |

| Dr. Tim has pictures of his kids in their hunting gear with the game they took on his exam room walls. Also has a bear skin rug on his office floor. We spend more time talking about hunting than we do medical issues. Good doctor. We have a lot of things in common. |
Friggin' bullshit--an anti-gun group publishes their BS data against guns....bias, anyone?
Physicians doing research are supposed to report any personal or financial biases or conflicts with any "research." When was the last time one of these groups sad--we don't like guns--and our report shows that?! Some of us doctors ask only to learn about where the best place to shoot is....or a good gun store.....or a good reload recipe. Admittedly, we are too few & far between. |
| Went to a doc-in-a-box awhile back and was asked several questions not medical related including the guns question and even if I have smoke alarms in my house. Nurse doing the registration said she knew they were dumb questions, but they are supposed to ask. She ended up not asking me any more after I asked why. |

I went to a doc once who asked a gun question. they also ended up not asking any more, because I said "we're done" and walked out without another word. it's not that hard to find doctors who aren't tools. |
