This is why we cant have nice things Russia. This could be dupe, I did a quick search via google and didn't find anything. |

Here's one in China (we had our share of failures as well, but this one takes the cake):

Another angle with good sound. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ccc_1372755072 |

Best sound so far. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=0b1_1372783951 |

Here's an older one with a hell of a boom.
Its several angles. Skip to the one that starts about 4:00 in,. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl9u-h_btBo |
| Can anyone explain what happens at 32 seconds? Does the capsule come off on it's own and fuel leaks leading to the fireball or is it the drag force/air friction igniting things? I didn't think it was going fast enough for the latter. What do they have the capsule held on with, scotch tape?? |

Quoted: Quoted: Does Russia not bother with destruct charges for out of control rockets? Why?.....apparently it has an automatic self destruct feature It appears the Chinese have them on their S-300 missiles. ![]() Drunk Chinese missile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCN1Q8gmufM |

Once you get outside of what it's braced to handle; it probably doesn't take much to fold it up. Purely a guess on my part...

Put a big bending moment (due to side load from the drag) into a tension joint and you're going to break things. |

Does Russia not bother with destruct charges for out of control rockets? that was my question. why didnt the RSO push the button They did, but it was too early in the flight so the system is inhibited to prevent the rocket from coming back down on the pad. The Russians/Soviets have never used explosive termination, they have always used thrust termination. They feel that it is better to have the rocket land intact and affect a smaller area. With explosives the theory is that the propellants will burn up in the air and reduce contamination. SpaceX also uses thrust termination on the Falcon. |

Even Jebediah is terrified when my Gigantor series rockets fire up and point the nose vaguely skyward. |
