Just curious how many ar15.com members are also free masons...I don't know much about them, but it seems pretty interesting.  If I knew of a good lodge and could find a sponsor, I'd consider joining myself.

Scipio,

Here's a link to the Texas Masonic Lodge Locator (from The Grand Lodge of Texas, AF & AM site).  You should be able to locate a Lodge in or near your hometown, and hopefully they'll list a means of contact.

If you need any help, just ask.

Is it true that all US Presidents were Freemasons with the exeption of Bill Clinton?

Gaspain, not true, although I would guess between 15-20 were, not sure of the exact number.

Here's a list of the U.S. Presidents who were Masons.  There have only been 14 to date, not including Lyndon Johnson (who never progressed beyond his initiation).

Great organization if you have the time to participate.
I started at 13 in DeMolay until I could become a mason.

Ohh ok thanks, Also another question(s), Do you have to believe in the Bible to be a Freemason? Or can any good person join?
10/20/2002 5:24:55 PM EDT
[#14]
You don't have to believe in any one specific religion, but you must profess a belief in a Supreme Being.

Here's a link to a page that answers many common questions.

Bill Clinton was a De Molay. Too bad he didn't take the lessons into his adult life.

How do you become a Mason? Could I do it?
I have never knowingly met one and wouldnt even know where to start.

Yes, that's true.  My son is a DeMoly also, and I remember when he pointed out that Bill Clinton's name had been removed from their "Hall of Fame" (and the associated web page).  Had Clinton also become a Mason, I'm certain his Lodge would've expelled him.

captainpooby If you are interested in joining then you need to ask a Mason. He would be able to walk you through the process.

captainpooby, I'd recommend checking this site http://www.freemasonry.org/links/ (or your Yellow Pages) to see if there's a Lodge near you.  If so, contact them and someone will be able to answer all of your questions.

Another neat site is this one: http://www.greenberg.org/lodges/lodges.htm.  It shows the "anatomy" of a Lodge, and has a good bit of info.
