Utica man killed after rifle target detonates at party As Taylor and his sons prepared to leave, some of the party-goers were shooting exploding targets with a high-powered rifle, Jensen said. Taylor joined a group of spectators standing behind the shooter. Just before 9 p.m. a shot exploded a target and Taylor immediately collapsed with a wound to the abdomen, Jensen said. . . . Jensen said that in this case the Tannerite was “used with other materials” in a manner that was not included in the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you're blowing up a car like that (or anything with shrapnel risk), the safe way to do it involves distance, cover, or one in conjunction with the other depending on vaiables. The State Department has a nice VBIED safe cover/distance chart... Pretty good guidlines that can be applied with a good safety margin to Tannerite and the like placed in cars. The safe distance is... Impressive. |

First time I used that stuff, I followed the directions to a T. (100yd safe zone) Then my buddy did a "Hold my beer and watch this shit" move. I had my back turned when he went down range to set up gatorade sized bottle full. Did not know he dropped it at the 50yd target line. I was looking for it at the 100yd target line when it went off. It combed my fucking hair for me, unbuttoned my shirt and had sex with me.
