History shows that kids were dicking around on this computer today...  Not a big deal...

BUT...

Now the 'scroll knob' on the mouse is not doing it's thing; scrolling the page up and down.  How do I fix this?

Thanks.

mouse works perfectly except for the wheel scroll.  When the wheel is depressed, those functions also work until disengaged.

Are you sure it doesn't just need to be cleaned out? I took mine apart yesterday because the scroll wheel stopped working. Turned out there was a bunch of lint built up in the wheel gizmo that was messing things up. Cleaned it out and now it works fine.

good deal, that way you'll know if it's the mouse or a setting that you need to change at least.

It's probably child slime gumming up the works.

That works on 2 levels,

and the 'child slime' did not get there from Dad....

At the top of your keyboard to the right of the F12 key are 3 special keys , the center one is the scroll lock try pressing that.

With the optical mice that are standard now, that scroll wheel's the first thing to gum up and die on ya.

It's probably full of schmutz and can be easily degunked and reassembled by anyone with a modicum of experience with such things as legos or erector sets.
