we are not too far away from 1984 . All they gotta do is break down the first amendment and the means are there. This shit is getting ridiculous. Technology is scary. With the access they have and the monitoring they do they can fabricate and frame you for anything they want . Almost makes me want to disconnect from technology.Just look at the shit going on with the IRS and the DHS and tell me it isn't fathomable that they could just log into your shit and say something for you and then arrest you for it. Our constitution is almost gone. |

A few days ago, I was talking to my brother on the phone, and I mentioned that I was going to pick up another copy of 1984. I forgot about getting around to ordering, then a few days later, I got a package from Amazon. It contained a copy of 1984, autographed by Barack Obama, with the inscription: Dear Arma, Fat lot of good this is gonna do ya. Got you good, fucker! Hugs and Kisses, Barry and the NSA.

Great book, I read it a couple times over the past few years. That and Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, Animal Farm, Battle Royale...It bread a real good mistrust in government . I agree with you OP, really it's gone even farther than Orwell imagined and seems like a cross with Brave New World, both elements are present. Things like the wars being used to fuel nationalist unity against a common enemy or rather in our case the ever present possibility of terrorism rather an a specific nation. Then there is the the use of wars for the sake of using up resources in a way that doesn't really benefit the people, the gov wanting more Abrams tanks when the military doesn't even want or need them is an example of this. Then their is the way our society is being medicated with all kinds of stuff and the self-medication with alcohol and push for drug legalization (I'm not against legalization) but the point being people are drowning away their problems in drugs legal or otherwise, so while our ancestors got upset and broke stuff when they had to pay some meager new taxes, our population just rolls over and goes to the bar and drinks or takes anti-depressants to cope with life. The Xbox One with built in connect is earily reminiscent of the telescreens that could see and hear and command Winston to exercise and spy into his home. Then there are the uneducated ghettos of our own cities where the law doesn't hold much power and the powers in charge don't really care, seems similar to the 85% in 1984 who were not "Party" members and not held to the standard and strict scrutiny of the minority Party members. It is almost as if people are purposefully trying to follow the course of these dystopic fictions.

It's humorous how you think "we are not too far away from 1984 ".
Besides some technological advances we are at or beyond 1984. Look at the facts: 1. There is no ownership of private property (land) in this country. The government dictates what you can and cannot do on "your" land and the government will take "your" land away from you if they want (eminent domain or if you don't pay the taxes). 2. Every facet of your life is dictated/regulated by the government. There is millions of laws on the books regulating everything you can possibly do. 3. Every right guaranteed in the Bill of Rights has been perverted and made a non entity. 4. You live in a police state. Granted it is an iron fist in a velvet glove at this point, but it IS a police state. Everything can be hidden or lied about to keep the masses happy. 5. The government you supposedly elected has done its best to destroy this country economically, socially, and every -ly you can imagine. The list goes on and on. |
