Depends where you are going.

Juarez is not a very good place to be.

Chihuahua city is a bit better.

Define "a little better". Don't leave the hotel better or don't go out at night better?

2,100 killings there in 2011, best of luck.

Here is a tip; watch your vehicle closely while there, they will get you two ways with it, drug dealers will hide drugs in it then wait for you to cross back in to the US to take them that is if you are not caught by the BP while crossing back, good luck explaining how those drugs got there. Or the Mexican police will hide drugs in your vehicle then pull you over, happen to find them, arrest you and want you to pay them thousands of dollars to make it go away.

Oh and if you happen to find hidden drugs in your vehicle you can't go to the Mexican police they will still arrest you, and if you just dump them in the trash or some place, when  the drug dealers come looking for them and they are not there expect a knock on the door from some dudes that would just soon kill you as look at you, it is a real catch 22 problem.

It's not as bad as TJ is right now so you should be fine

Don't have to worry about the vehicle. We have someone picking us up and driving us around when needed.

Don't go out at night better.

It is the capital city so there is a bit more...order?

Actually there are some cool sites downtown. An outdoors bazaar/ mall with a lot of cool shops with eating places you would be familiar with.

The old church there has a museum with a lot of Spanish baroque era art. And, of course, the Pancho Villa Museum with some cool old guns and shot-up vehicles.

Stay in the Zona Tourista and you will be fine.

I hear you, but down there they just cut you up and use you for bait. Literally. As said, the tourist zone may be OK. Supposed to be a pretty place.

Don't have much of a choice. Our company transferred some equipment down and I have to help with the startup.

No idea, just getting there will put you through Federales and Mexican military checkpoints, and perhaps checkpoints run by the other group. No way I would run that gauntlet. I'm sure people do every day, very much not my thing.

Drove through it in '99 with the Carrera Panamericana. Don't remember much of it.

Good luck.

Good point. Kinda makes me think about all the bitching going on about our country and how screwed up it is but at least I can go to work every day and not have to worry about making it home.
