What do you guys think?

Looks like a lot of work for something you can buy for $3.00

I think the paracord trend needs to end

Dang 13ers.

OP cool idea.  I see the looped version being more useful than the others.  I prefer to just stipple my mags though.

[#7]
Do not like. At all.

You get points for creativity but lose points for not making productive use of your time.  Magpul already did a good job with this product.

[#9]
I think it looks cool, Can't say that I would like the loop, but having the different color paracord wrapped around it is a great way to tell your mags apart.

Except the ranger plates don't work with the new gen mags.

Man it is really nifty, but I do not really see the purpose. How do they fit in a pouch with that on them?
5/4/2013 2:29:40 PM EDT
[#12]
It's not my cup of tea, however if you like it that's All that counts.
My wife says it looks cool.

The magpul doesn't work?

Not on gen3, at least that's what I've heard..I've got 5 or 6 gen 3's but no ranger plates

Edit: oops, I see what you're asking. I don't know if the magpuls will work
5/4/2013 7:53:06 PM EDT
[#15]
I would do just one mag.  I have many mags floating around that I wouldn't mind if one of my pmags had something like that.

The mags pictured are Gen2 and I was not referring to ranger plates.  What the OP made is the same concept as the original Magpuls, and they work on the Gen3 mags very well.

But thank you for your participation in this thread 13er.

Thanks for all the input fellas! I figured I could get some good responses on here, so I thank you all for taking the time to do so.

I realize Magpul has there version of this, but mined cost me less than $1 in paracord so I figured I'd do my own!

I don't use AR's for anything were a mag change is critical so I wasn't sure if it offered any real advantage for those that do. I mostly hunt with mine so the color coding is the main thing it does for me. The other thing I like about this (on the thermold mag in particular) is that when I place the wrap just below the magwell, it makes a magwell grip more comfortable and controllable, if that's how you like to shoot.

Thanks again fellas for all the input, God bless you all,

Adam

That's rich.

ETA: I forgot to mention that the original Magpuls suck if your mag pouches are tight, which with PMags they tend to be.

The only 2 benefits I see is if you want to identify the mags if you are using different loads such as tracers and using the paracords for emergency situation similar to the bracelets that I see being sold at gunshows.

rapid mag change, maybe.

I was thinking both of these things myself.

You can never have enough paracord if you are out in the wilderness.
5/6/2013 3:28:34 AM EDT
[#23]
Nope

[#24]
I looks cool, but I do not want. I love ranger plates.
5/10/2013 5:26:11 AM EDT
[#25]
As others have said it looks cool, but looks like it would be a problem in my mag pouches.
On the other hand for range mags that would be virtually a unique identifier.
As I have had a couple of mags walk off that has some appeal.
5/10/2013 7:51:14 AM EDT
[#26]
I think its very creative idea, and I personally like it. I could see what some people mean about it getting in the way, not fitting in mag pouches, etc.., but as a range shooter who carries magazines in a range bag I see no issue. Neat!
5/14/2013 11:11:45 AM EDT
[#27]
I give you an A+ for the craftsmanship. Pretty cool work. But I really don't see the practicality of the wrap on a mag that allrady has a good gripping surface.

But Nice work!
5/14/2013 4:10:23 PM EDT
[#28]
Original but not practical, I would think this would slide off real easily.
5/21/2013 7:09:24 PM EDT
[#29]
The one with the loop would catch on everything.  But people do love there mag loops. Bought 75 mags from a guy. Every mag had a loop tapped on.  The first post woth out loop would be kinda cool on a survial gun.  Giving the user X amount of paracord for survival.  Neat idea.  Id buy one if i wasnt living in Ny.
5/22/2013 8:16:31 PM EDT
[#30]
pointless, stupid, ugly.... take your pick. If your mags don't drop free and you need some dingle berry to get it out of the gun, buy a better lower.
5/29/2013 3:55:40 PM EDT
[#31]
I bet you can make them out of rubber and sell them by the shit ton!

this, I hate paracord and if I didn't need the 2 rolls of it for the post apocalyptic world, I'd burn them.
5/29/2013 3:57:08 PM EDT
[#33]
Hows about ya take those things off your pmags. K?Thanks.
5/29/2013 3:57:36 PM EDT
[#34]
people have been lacing paracord through the bottom of mags since like the civil war

played out
5/29/2013 3:58:22 PM EDT
[#35]
I like Ranger Plates. That para cord looks like a butterfly tramp stamp... on a guy. But thats how the Magpul got started. Rubber version of the 100 mph tape and para cord. If you like it, fuck the haters. Too thick for my pouches. Does it fit in your chest rig?

[#38]
I have paracord! I must wrap it around something!!!!!!
5/29/2013 4:15:37 PM EDT
[#39]
I think this would go nicely with the paracord sling, and the paracord macramé hanging plant basket

This paracord adornment on everything really does need to quickly go the way of boon-doggle keychain s and friendship bracelets.
5/29/2013 4:16:57 PM EDT
[#40]
I hate NY. All my Mags are too short to do silly paracord things to. I love paracord.
5/29/2013 4:18:54 PM EDT

Label it tactical and get a vid of Chris Costa holding one. Instant millionaire.

Nope, don't like it, at all. No offense, just being honest.

I don't take my Pmags outa the wrapper. It destroys their value.

Macrame pmags, how cute.
5/29/2013 4:23:33 PM EDT

id rather have them than pulls..   atleast i can use the cord to do sweet tacticool shit in the field like making bracelts
5/29/2013 4:24:16 PM EDT

I like mine naked.
