Ok this is probably an easy one for you guys but my google foo never found what I was looking for.  After my ac stops running (varies in times but usually 5 or so minutes) a clicking/popping sound sometimes starts in the outside unit.  It is a Rheem heat pump set up about 6 years old.  The noise is not electrical or coming from compressor.  As far as I can pinpoint it is coming from inside the coils and varies greatly from a few small clicks to a bunch that sound like the thing is falling apart.

Issue I need to worry about or fix?  Is it a normal or something cause by a stuck valve etc?

If the unit is cooling the house, then I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe someone with more HVAC experience can chime in. Or you might shoot an IM to DrFrige..

Could be something with the fan....do you have a humidifier on the unit?
I had one that made clicking noise like you describe,

I just read where you say "sounds like it is coming apart". Heat expansion in the coils shouldn't be that loud.

Fan is shut off and noise does not come from around motor.  I say it's pretty loud sometimes and when the noise happens I can feel it when touching the coil fins.  It was loud enough to wake me up from a little nap with my 1 1/2 year old earlier.  The unit sits right outside window.

Bump for day crew

ETA.
Just thought about it.  I have not heard it once today after I moved the expansion valve away from the coils last night.  I did still hear it a little right after I moved it but not nearly as bad.
