I just bought a 19 gen4. It came with 3 10 round mags. Is there some way to modify these to hold 15 rounds?

You bought a NY Compliant model. Go to CDNN and buy some mags.

Well I bought 2 gen4 15 rounders. I was just wondering if I could put a new follower in to make them into 15 rounders and use them for range mags.

Basically, no.

I have a few 10 rounders I use as range mags.  You're just going to have to buy 15 round mags.

Funny how you try to be a smart ass but come across as a dumb ass.  Glock 19 standard capacity mags are 15 rounds.

To the OP, not really any way to modify them.  Just go buy some standard cap Glock 19 mags.

Dude he asked about 15 round mags and you respond to buy G17 mags.  Sure 17 is more than 15 but that wasn't what he was asking about.  Hell just go buy some 33 rd mags with your logic.

33 is even better. That's how I roll.

Now if someone could teach me(and the OP) a thing or two about those ridiculous AWB magazines. I've never handled one of these abominations. What is the way that they're built that restricts capacity? Are they set up as a single-stack like Beretta? Can the interior of the magazine be worked back out?

Well heck, don't they make a 50 round drum.

If you want to salvage those mags, you could try the +2 adapters on the bottom to get 12 rounds at least.  I don't believe there is any way to modify them to 15 but you could try asking in the Glock sub-forum in the Handgun section.

I'm not back peddling Glock 19s have no benefit to me. They're not that much smaller to make a difference in concealability. The only thing they do is limit your round count and pinch my grip uncomfortably.

So like I said, buy Glock 17 mags

Buy 15 round mags. There is actually quite a bit of demand for 10 round mags right now. Sell them on GB, someone from NY or CA will buy them.

Even if you could mod them, it seems like a poor bet to use them as carry mags.  Reliability would be suspect.  I don't think it's as simple as a follower/spring swap.

The simplest option would be to use these 10s as your range mags, and buy some 15 rounders for carry.  Problem solved.

Exactly. He could also just buy 17 round G17 mags as they work in a Glock 19 just fine. But he was asking about 15 rounders.

Or I have a thought, it's crazy but hear me out, if you don't want a 10 round magazine don't buy a 10 round magazine

I have some old ones I have looked at, the plastic in injection molded around the metal liner to single stack dimensions, I cant think of any way to open it back up.

There's no way to modify them - the internals are designed to be 'tamper proof' from Glock...

Thanks for the replys. I was hoping I could replace the followers. Looks like when the 15 round gen4 mags show I'll have to get them to a ban state.

Take the base plates off and you'll see why you can't just swap followers.  Sell the 10rd mags to someone in NY or CA on the EE, or just use them as range mags.
5/27/2013 12:03:44 PM EDT

Why would someone in a free state but a glock with 10 round mags?  Hope it was cheap.

Unless it was a smoking deal, I wouldn't buy a gun where I had to turn around and pay $100 or more for possibly hard to find mags (at this moment) to get to the same point I'd be at if I'd just bought a gun with the proper mags in the first place.

Pistol was $475 with 50 rounds thru it. It could pass for new.

I thought it was a good price. I already bought 2 15rounders and a 33 rounder for $70 shipped.

You did good then.  I really like gen 4 glocks.  Bought 2 this year.
