Any suggestions? I'm looking for a monocular (or binocular) for under $300. Does that exist? I don't need some super crazy night vision system. For the past few weeks, my dog has been going ballistic at night somewhere at the back of the property (which is fenced in). I know there is some sort of animal back there, and I'm dying to know what it is. Because I'm just trying to settle this curiosity, I'm not willing to spend a lot. Thanks, Chimborazo |

I haven't messed with the cheap night vision, so I won't be of much help there. However, this sounds like an excellent opprotunity to contribute to your firearm collection. This scenario would be perfect for an M203 40mm grenade launcher loaded with parachute flares. While this doesn't quite fit into your "not willing to spend a lot" criteria, it does rank pretty high up on the coolness factor. Just a thought. just get an IR lense for your 1,000,000cp spot light or your Maglite. all you need is a black and white screen or some sort, even the b/w viewfinder of a camcorder will show the IR spectrum. to test if it works just set it up then point your IR tv control at it...you will see it flash..then move on the the big lights. I know brinkmann has IR lenses for theyr maximillion spots. |

Chim, I sent to www.ittnightvision.com and rc'd an excellent 20 minute VHS tape (free) that explains the difference between the 1'st gen., 2'nd and 3'rd gen night scopes. After viewing the tape, I think you'll come to the conclusion that most of us have; There is no other choice - the 3'rd gen stuff is light-years ahead of the older stuff. Point the first or second gen crap at a light source-the tube is history. The fact that you can't take the third gen. stuff out of the country pretty much tells it all. Check out their web-site. You won't be sorry. |
