| I also noticed that you didnt mention signature confirmation. In ebays eyes even if you have confirmed delivery, if the item is over 250 dollars and without a signature confirmation, the buyer can still claim they never received it and ebay as well as paypal will side with them. |

Quoted: We sold a wedding dress for $450 on Ebay last week, sent it inside out, wrapped in cellophane, inside a garment bag, inside a box, tracking and insured. Buyer opened a case today claiming that it was both 'not as described' and 'damaged in shipping'... claiming that it has urine stains on it, also claiming they had sent us pictures in an email yesterday, which they didn't. We responded and are just waiting now. I haven't been through one of these before, about the only thing we could have done better was videotaped the entire packaging process... I am going to beat the Ebay buyer protection! ... I hope Sounds like the box got wet in shipping. Since it's insured, just file a claim with UPS. |

Well, if it did that should be pretty clear from the pictures the seller didn't send us. |

Thanks you might have saved us some heartache in the future. |

Your only recourse is to have them ship it back for a full refund. You wont beat the buyer protection. Go read on ebays community forums for awhile... ETA: If they wont accept shipping it back, then you beat the buyer protection. this. and be nice about it because they will leave negetive feedback, and you cant leave negetive feedback. i would go the route and see if it was damaged in shipping, and ask if they will assist you in filing a claim. they may work with you. |

People still sell stuff on Ebay? I thought ebay was now the realm of Chinese wholesalers and scammers. Have not bought/sold anything on ebay in years. Just got too contrived and too easy to get scammed. It's one of our sales channels... we've done well enough with it, about 1 in-stock dress per week, and another custom dress per week on top of that. |

I'm at this stage with ebay right now almost of the opinion that I'd be better off melting down or throwing out the stuff I have instead of taking it in the shitter with their outrageous fees. The last auctions I had were in March, paid the final fees, everyone got their stuff all was well. Got a bill for April which surprised me because I didn't list jack then I got a bill for May - same thing, havent listed jackshit since march 13th. They said we are going to limit your account.....scary shit I'm trembling in my skivvies
I still remember reading bigger horror stories that make me nervous about listing on ebay......user beware ebay/paypal same thing they don't represent you Mr seller they are on buyers side unless you get lucky. |

You can simply stand your ground and consider it a done deal. It may result in ebay closing your account and or a bad review but thats about as much as they can do. |

We'll stop dealing with it if it stops being profitable or worth the money. We could afford to get scammed and lose our shirts 1/3 and still turn a profit(but it wouldn't be enough to justify), and so far we're only at 1/30 or so. |

We'll see, I'll make sure to update this. If it really got damaged in shipping, we'll refund them and file the claim. If not, I'll fight it to the bone since there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dress(beautiful dress too, would cost $2000+ if it were from a bigger designer). We were sad to let it go at that low of a price, we are retailing it at $650, but it's much harder to sell the dresses that we buy at a specific size(for pictures for our catalog/website) than a custom dress off our website. |
| My wife has cleared over 2k NET this month alone on her eBay retail business. Nothing shady, nothing fake. Good product (jewelry) with good margins. eBay does suck a little though, way too much buyer protections, and high fees. But sure beats having your own .com and dealing with all that shit yourself. |

What Deerpark said isnt completely accurate. They can pull the money out of your paypal to reimburse the buyer. If you dont have the cash in the account,it will just go into the negative until you receive or deposit into it again. I believe they may even sell the account to collections after certain period of time. Also whatever you do, MAKE THEM RETURN IT!! Once you get it back, and YOU are satisfied that it was actually damaged in transit, then I would also reimburse them for their return costs as well. You just cant be certain they arent scamming you for a full or partial refund and free dress. But if they have to return it, it will possibly discourage them from doing it again. |

What are you average ebay fees? It is roughly 12% to sell on ebay off of my bottom line. ETA: Nearly 60k feedback 16% between ebay and Paypal for me generally. I dont complain about that at all though as I also do a fair amount of liquidating through local auction houses that range up to 30-35% on small items which is the majority of what I sell. ETA: The real scam is getting charged the fees on shipping costs. So unless its a large item I just bundle the shipping into the starting price and list it with free shipping. I sell antique and unique items so I have a very low return rate, almost nil. |
|
Sounds about right. I receive a pretty hefty discount simply due to my volume. I sell 200+ items a day, and there are certainly people out there who attempt to scam me, but, 99% of people really are legitimate. I have more caes per month of FedEx/USPS screwing up, than a customer lying to me.

The customer agrees to the sale price, including shipping, when they choose to buy my item. Why can they AFTER the fact, nail me for charging too much ( when ebay calculates my fucking freight)? |

Free shipping on all our items :) That's the way to do it. If I offered free shipping, I'd lose, on everything. Autoparts on ebay, and Amazon, by myself and my main competition (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep), are sold at such an EXTREMELY low margin, FYI. I may clear 6% net on the front end; after fees. So just a tip, look for OEM parts on ebay/amazon, save yourselves some money :) |

Ah well. What can ya do. Ebay gets the same fees either way. What should they care? |

Where did you ship it to (city)? Also, do you know when the wedding is? If the dress is in that bad shape, she certainly won't be wearing it to her wedding... We had a customer complain to us about some shirts we printed (even after looking at them at our shop and saying they were perfect). We did not refund her money as requested. She filed a BBB complaint and threatened to sue. Turns out she wore them to her clothing line's photo shoot and everyone, INCLUDING HER, were raving about the shirts online. She was nice enough to post pictures of her and her models wearing the clothes. Needless to say, she got nothing and the BBB found in our favor (which we didn't give a damn about anyways). I hope you win! Eric |

Hope this dress wasnt shipped out of the U.S. cause if it was its a scam for sure. You mean we shouldn't have sent it to Nigeria for a money order? I mean, it's an honor to be picked to make the dress for the King's uncle's sister's daughter, the princess. |
