I just rebooted my laptop and a screen popped up saying, Trend PCcillin Real-time I/O service does not work. Please check the service applet in windows contol panel. The PCcillin is my anti virus. I can't find anything in control panel that says service applet. Any ideas? Thanks in advance [>:/] |

"Trend" was a BIOS manufacturer. This is the hard-coded bit of software that's contained on the motherboad. It boots up when your computer is first started up, well before your Operating System (OS - DOS, Windows, et al). I believe put an antivirus in their bios (most BIOS manufacturers do) to prevent some virus(es) from being activated from a boot disk (3.5, 5.25, et al). If this is the case, go into your bios on startup (usually F1, F2, or DEL keys) and look for antivirus settings). Also, go into the Control Panel / System / Hardware Configuration and go all the way to the bottom (system) options and look for anything that references a BIOS antivirus. You might want to not which BIOS and version you have and find the "Trend" website and check it out. Good luck. |

It came up after it finished booting. I am using the computer now. The only problem I am having is the cd rom quit working. I thought the message might have somthing to do with that. I know "I/O" means input / out put. Otherwise the computer works great. I just got DSL and man is it fast!! |

Sounds like something has siabled the IO on the system. Could be a protection feature in the antivirus software. CHeck the widows Hardware settings to insure windows and the system detect your cdrom. If so you may be able to enable the cdrom there. Been awhile since i have dealt with microsoft stuff. mike |

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.... Let me guess............u have a Sony VAIO right?................ ME TOO!!! Your post brought back memories......irritating ones. Call SONY. There's really nothing wrong, except that you will need to download an update from their site. They can tell you exactly where to find it. Good luck! |
