So due to certain circumstances, I will be moving to Denver by July. I’ve been applying to many positions in my current field but get the cold shoulder once they realize I’m not living in Denver yet. I was able to interview for a couple positions while out there on a visit but was “too over qualified” for them. Is getting a job outside of your area really this hard? Industry I work in is banking (credit union) . My current position is Assistant branch manager and loan officer.
Education: Bachelor's in Finance and MBA. Does anyone in the Denver area think they may be of any assistance to a guy who is moving to Denver job or not?Would much rather have any job then none? I'm very open to other industires. Thanks, Alan |

Do Not move to the city and county of Denver. Look at Lakewood, GOlden,Littleton,Arvada,Wheatridge,Westminister,Parker,Centennial,or Thornton. WHat industry.....PM I may be able to help some. +1. Most of the suburbs are pretty good for gun rights. I live in Arvada. Wouldn't live in Denver or Aurora for crime reasons. Rents are pretty high and home prices are starting to climb. State anti-gun laws? The Dems took over the statehouse because of a fluke, I think the house will go back Republican in 2014. Especially because the Lefties overstepped. |
I lived in Colorado, specifically the Denver metro-area, for most of my life. As far as getting a job, I won't be able to help much. As far as places to live, I can help quite a bit. As a general rule of thumb, the further southwest you go in the Denver metro-area, the nicer it is, and the further north-east you go, the sketchier it is. Highlands Ranch is fairly nice, but it's got that yuppie vibe, and traffic there fucking sucks. Parker and Greenwood are village are nice for the most part (at least the parts I've been in), and Littleton is fairly nice, with the Ken Caryl west of C470 being very beautiful. Lakewood is hit and miss, pretty much everything west of Kipling is good to go. Golden is nice, but be warned that 6th avenue and C470 north of 285 have a fuck ton of gravel trucks that roll through, so you'll have a cracked windshield in no time if you live near there. Arvada, Westminster and Wheatridge are alright, some sketchy areas, some very nice ones. Aurora is hit and miss. There's some very nice houses, decent houses, and crack houses. Basically they're all in their own groups though. Denver itself is interdasting you'll see one group of homes that are old, very nice 6k+ square foot homes, and a stones throw away there will be section 8 housing. Englewood is hit and miss. For the most part, Thornton, Northglenn, and Commerce City are hellholes (there are some definite exceptions though). Northfield and Stapleton are hip, yuppyish areas right next to heavy industrial areas. Boulder, especially the West side, is very beautiful, but there's a ton of liberals/hippies there. And, I think that about covers it. |

Mail your mags here before june!!!!! get a reciept so that you can prove they were in the state before you come. DO NOT LIVE IN DENVER COUNTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (they are the ones with a 20 rd ban, and denver county is just assholes anyways). Also, if you live in or around denver (like aurora), you might investigate how much water is going to be, because denver water and aurora are going to be getting butt-fucked by this drought due to the way water rights are in the state.
Most of us real coloradoans are PISSED about what has been happening, but you are coming at exactly the wrong fucking time..........sorry. |

If you have over 15 round capacity magazines they may be grandfathered if you are moving here. You need to verify this by reading the bill/law.
This may not apply to the city/county of Denver. Check the following link for HB13-1224 Colorado bills |

The exact area we are looking is not set yet. I don't believe it will actually be inside of Denver but more out side. I'm moving b/c of my girl. She makes more than me...My credit union is small and does not pay a lot. I got comfortable there which is why I do not have a better paying job now. I know this is the worst possible time to be moving there but it is what it is and I have to make the best of it...I would just really love to have a job before I pack my bags to take a little stress of the move away. PM's replied to those who ask. As far as my mags go, they will be staying with my pops gun safe. I'm only taking my ccw and my HD shotgun.
Thanks for all the info and suggestions. Keep them coming and again any help with employment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alan |

Thanks, Alan Explore Oil & Gas firms. They are numerous and their focus is varied. Your educational creds should qualify you for working in many facets of the field from Acquisition and Divestiture firms to Deal Financial Analysis and Due Diligence work. I can guarantee they pay better than a Credit Union Assistant Branch Manager/Loan Officer.....and most are based in free states. ETA: There are a lot of O&G firms based in Denver too. |

If you answered no to either of those questions, forget about moving there. |
