I think life is very similar to, but not exactly, like a sport.  You look at your life and say yes, fuck yes! I'm winning!  I'm living my life to the fullest and enjoying every second of it.  You look back at what you have done and what you are doing and can enjoy a deep sense of satisfaction.  But....

You have to be careful.  You can be looking back and saying that everything is great, maybe not perfect, but great, and the next thing you know....  Ten years have gone by.  You have given up the things that you loved.  You have lost sight of where you wanted to be.  You are now wondering how to get it back.

The answer is simple....

Play.

Play the game.

Beat the shitty side of life.

If necessary, beat yourself.

Cut loose the things that drag you down.

Embrace the things that make you stronger.

Make sure that you can look back and say not just yes, but fuck yes!!

You have to eat it really fast before it gets soggy.

Go live for another 10 years and report back.

And just like any sport, be sure to wear your cup because life will kick you in the balls occasionally.

Ignore the naysayers OP.

I live your post every single day. I knew 10 years ago that I would wake up one day that much older, and it would seem like the time had disappeared. Well, it happened. Here I am today, 10 years older.

You absolutely have to burn your dreams into your mind and work towards them every single day of your life. Otherwise, you never get there. I've seen it happen to almost everyone around me. I've gotten sidetracked before. I'm human. I always get back on the horse.

In order to be successful in this world, you have to want it so badly that you want it more than you want to breathe. You have to work towards it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You have to dream about your goals when you sleep and be willing to sacrifice everything.

I sacrificed everything in my life for over 10 years for my goal. No girlfriend. No children. No vacations. No semesters off for 9 years of college. No breaks. No new truck or car. No fancy clothes.

It was worth it.
