The story we are receiving doesn't match the facts. I haven't found any conversation, recently, and of merit, proposing restrictions on the sale of ammo. (If you have, link me to it please).
The current language being used seems to have grown to include ammo along with firearms in it's prohibitory language.

This entire deal smells to me. The Senate looks to have the necessary votes locked up to do pretty much whatever it wants, however, the message it is promoting is one of "hey, it's better than nothing (background checks)." Methinks that our reps are about to toss us under the bus; they have planned to do so all along; and, they are going to try and slip in restrictions (or restricting language) in a way that goes unnoticed until it's too late. Any others feeling the same?

Personally, I'm not buying it.

Feinstein even seems to be in a chipper mood. And, you have to consider that Reid has now taken control of this, which means that we are going to continue to hear a lot of down-playing and nonsense until the bill has already been passed. While I would like to hope that the R House will make a stand, let's get real... how many times can we blindly hold out that the R's will come to victory in the House when we have seen nothing in recent history that would suggest they have the testicular fortitude to do so? Moral of the story: expecting the House to save gun rights = insanity... and probably a sign that you need to put down the kool-aid.

Don't believe me?

Then, using your search function: look for how many times the word "ammunition" appears (and in what context). Restricting ammo has long been a dream for the dems and lib repubs... wouldn't be surprised to see it resurface here. In fact, I would be surprised if it didn't get tossed into the debate.

so much for that warm fuzzy feeling I have had for the last 2 months.

I can't help but shake the feeling that either, (a) we are going to get hit with a far reaching background check system that will mandate registration to sell/buy firearms AND ammunition, or (b) we will get the background checks on ammo/guns AND we will get hit with some amendment banning "high capacity feeding devices."

Please.... oh please.... reassure me that my instincts are off-base.

When you realize that bills in congress are written with such ambiguity that they can be "interpreted" in any way, you'll realize like I did that it doesn't matter what they pass.  If they want something the only thing stopping them is force.

Obviously, yes- I do realize that ambiguous language is often employed by politicians.

Categorization and categorical language, however, is used with specificity in laws (which come in the form of bills... like the one I just linked to).
