I am looking at getting a pair of electronic ear muffs but I am not sure which ones to get. http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-R-01526-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365213807&sr=8-1&keywords=howard+leight ![]() or http://www.amazon.com/3M-Tactical-Behind--Hearing-Protector/dp/B0000X6I5I/ref=sr_1_7?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1365215295&sr=1-7&keywords=peltor ![]() I like the audio input feature of the Howard Leight ones, but I like the behind the neck style of the peltors so I am torn. Which is better? ETA: this will be for shooting all types of rifles and pistols/ and possibly working in the yard with the chain saw/weed eater/mower etc... |

Quoted: Money is a "thang", so I would like to keep it under $75. or $100 max. I do want some good ones, so that is why I am avoiding the one you can get at the local gun stores and walmart like the Caldwell and Winchester ones. I mean how good could they be for $25.00?Quoted: I have a pair of the Howard Leight Impact Sports, and have been very happy with them. for the price they are hard to beat. If money ain't no thang you can do better. Disclaimer I have the impact sports and I am extremely happy with them. |

Here is my thread a few weeks ago - http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1459120_Need_Help_Picking_Electronic_Muffs.html
Midway still has the Caldwell Platinum Series G3 Electronic Stereo muffs on sale for $33.34 - normally $55 http://www.midwayusa.com/product/614635/caldwell-platinum-series-g3-electronic-earmuffs-nrr-21-db-black

Another vote for the Sordins. I LOVE mine. Save up for a bit and spend the extra $$ for the best ear pro on the market. You don't recover from hearing loss and tinnitus doesn't go away. |

I have the Howard Leights, the Peltors and the MSAs.
Howard Leight Impact Sports: +$60 +good amplification +single volume control w/ auto shut-off -average fit -the seal isn't that great Peltor Tac 6s (over the head): +$60 +very good / excellent fit and seal -poor amplification -terrible to change out batteries -dual volume controls and no auto shut-off (at least not that I can tell) -no audio jack MSA Pro-X (over the head): -$250 +excellent fit and seal +outstanding sound amplication -amplification cuts out when I speak, so I'm a little louder than normal +easy battery changes You get what you pay for with the MSAs, and I really like mine. I have an over-the-head set, and they might not be compatible with a helmet; if this is the case, I'll get the MSA neck strap version, and let my daughter use my current set. For all of its shortcomings, I prefer the Tac 6s over the Impact Sport. The Tac 6s just has a better fit and seal. In the < $100 category, this is probably the way to go. |
