Ford Escapes suck if they have the V-6, catalytic converters built into the exhaust manifolds, If you destroy your converters,(misfires and rich fuel mixture), you will spend about 2 grand to replace them. |

The Escapes used to break motor mounts regularly as well if I remember right, always check those. An ex-girlfriend had a 2006 4cyl model that seemed decent for what it was. |

Old Escape... Gender neutral New Escape... Leans chick Grand Cherokee... def leans more manly thank chick Liberty is their chick car This is about it. Their new Cherokee is pretty girly too. The Terrain is more "manly" for a small crossover, and gets good mileage. |

I rented a '12 Escape to go to a funeral in another state. Not a bad ride. Gets around town pretty good also. My only gripe was that there was no real comfortable place to rest my left arm while driving.
Gas mileage was about 26-29 highway with the cruise set. |

Hell, at least the meth heads can't steal them! (The cats on the escape) |
| I drove a 12 escape for a few weeks as a rental. I hated it. Loud engine, crappy fit for my 6'2 frame, seats sucks. All the little extras like different color interior lights made it seem like an attempt at getting hipsters who don't know any better about cars. |

I have a 13 Escape with the 2.0 ecoboost as a company car. It has 4500 miles on it. I drive mostly highway miles. Usually 150+ miles per day. The road noise is so bad, I have to turn the sync up to max volume to use the phone. The best tank of fuel I have gotten is 25 most others have been 22-23 (again almost all highway miles).
I had to give up a 2010 Taurus AWD for the Escape. My Taurus regularly got 27mpg and was quiet and comfortable. The Taurus had 96k when I gave it up. My previous two cars were a 2005 Mecury Montego (Ford 500) AWD which regluarly got 29mpg, and a 2008 Taurus AWD that regularly got 27mpg (best tank was 29) If you have a choice between the Escape and almost anything else. Choose anything else. It is a Focus with AWD and a bit more cargo space. |

They are all looking like the cars they were driving in the UK 20+ years ago... When station wagons fell out of favor they simply called 'em SUVs I guess. I did like the older Escapes plain as they were, rather gender neutral, nothing to be overly proud of either. |

My wife is currently searching for a new vehicle and she asked me to look into the Escapes. After talking to some people and researching online we decided to stay away from them. Whatever you decide on research the particular year/model thoroughly before purchase. Edit: Found the same situation with the Jeep Patriot |

To hell with MPG, get an SRT8. One of those revved at me and displayed general douchery yesterday, but it did sound beautiful. |

Wife took delivery of a white 2013 Focus on Thursday. It is a nice looking little SUV..we are swooping to Carloina in it tomorrow...looking forward to see how it does.
The drivers area is inundated with controls, too much so, IMHO. I have seen yokes that control MFD's, trim, comm's, etc..with less buttons
Chick car? Nope. I think the only car that get's to be called that is a VW bug and the Prius. |

The Ford Escape is built on a Focus platform. That is all. What's your point, mate? 4 cylinder econobox turned into a crossover SUV. I like body on frame V8 4x4s as much as the next guy, but that shit just isn't practical for a lot of people. Crossovers, on the other hand, are damn handy and very practical vehicles. I didn't always see it that way, but after driving a few road trips in my aunt's 2011 Forester, I get it. They're basically station wagons that have extra ground clearance, AWD, and are fuel efficient. |
