I was just thinking. My old plotter does not have drivers available for windows 8. Think it would work if I hooked it up to a print server? Any good ones out there? Thanks Oh yeah needs a parallel port.

Still will need a driver.  Might be able to use one for a different model if you can find one.

Depends on the printer...

Generic laser printer driver would be the LaserJet 4 driver and a generic inkjet printer driver would be the Deskjet 500 or so.

If it is a software driven printer then isn't going to happen.

ahh... a plotter.

Try the deskjet 500 driver and see if that works. It might/might not. Not for sure when it comes to the plotter series. If it does it probably will not print color.

Edit: Try this windows 7 driver also... http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-Designjet-Knowledge/DesignJet-Driver-Windows-7-64bit/ta-p/5839879
