What gun would you purchase at the following price points. You have to buy any mags and ammo and accessories you want within that price point. Weapon would be used for defense, survival, living off the land... It is your all in one. Price Points are $100, $250, $500, $750, $1,000 and $5,000. Have fun! |

Buy a DSARMS FNFAL copy in stainless steel, the caliber is .308 which is decent for hunting. You can use Hornady TAP ammo for home defense and practice ammo is relatively cheap. DSARMS FN's are not cheap but then again they are way less than a pre-ban original FN! They also have several different models and options to build it just the way you like and 20 round mags are $10.00 or so brand new! Just my two cents on the matter! |

Problem is that at the $5k price point, I'd pick up several different guns and ammo. However, I'll give it a shot (I'm figuring on between 75% and 85% of the dollar figure on the firearm itself, the remainder on between 2 and 5 mags and ammo: $100, $250, $500, $750, $1,000 and $5,000 $100--single shot break open used .22 or old bolt .22 (going with the .22 because of the cheap ammo) $250--Single shot 12 ga and lots of ammo (a little more practical). $500--$300 AK special and mags and ammo. Maybe a break open .22 to go with it. $750--Probably the same AK and definitely a 12 ga. pump (or single shot) and even more ammo. Would have gone with the cheap AR here, but the gun must last for survival, and AK mags and ammo are cheaper. $1k--Might go to an AR, but would probably stick with the AK, more mags and ammo, a pump 12 ga. and a .22 rifle also. $5k--get the AR, an AK, mags, pump and single shot 12 ga, .22 rifle and revolver, and lots of ammo for all of them. |

You could do more at the lower price points than one might initially think. $100 will easily buy a CZ50 or CZ70, or a FEG PA-63, and at least one box of ammo. As far as longarms go, $100 is more than enough to buy a surplus Mosin-Nagant, Turk Mauser, or H&R single-shot 12 ga., with plenty left over for ammo. $250 will buy a police trade-in S&W revolver, Makarov or Bersa .380 pretty easily, and a Kel-Tec P11 or a FEG Hi-Power copy with a little creative shopping. I own the FEG and, after minor tinkering, I love it. I had the Kel-Tec, and still regret selling it. $250 is also plenty for an SKS, any number of good used bolt and lever guns, and a Wally-World special Remington 870. $500?!?! My Cavalry-based AR project will be the first gun I ever had that exceeded that price point. |

$100 - Couple of Turk mausers to sporterize. Yep, just call me Bubba. $250 - I'd look for a deal on a Win Model 12 in 12 gauge. Every once in a while you can find a good deal on one that may need to be reblued or that needs some minor gunsmithing to bring it back to life. It's my favorite pump shotgun and I've already got one in 16 gauge. $500 - This is simple. Another Garand from the CMP. I've got ammo and enbloc clips so that's taken care of. $750 - Should be able to get a used (good condition) Colt Delta Elite 10mm around this price, right? Make a deal and get some ammo too. $1000 - Ruger Red Label in 12 gauge. Damn nice shotgun. $5000 - Buy two 1911's as base guns. Use the remainder to have Larry Vickers do some work on one and Tim Brian (C.T. Brian) do some work on the other. Couldn't get two "full-house" custom guns for that money, but I bet I'd end up with a couple of nice pistols when they're done. [:)] |

Now that's what I'm talking about! I guess for $100 I would get a Mauser K98 or M48 $250 would be a Yugo SKS and a buttload of ammo $500 used Bulgarian AK, mags and ammo. Last Year I bought an SLR-95 and an SA-93 for $300 each, so it can be done. Dozen mags, case of ammo. $750 Either the above AK along with a collimeter sight or an AR15. Oly offers a "plinker" for $500, a dozen orlites and a few battlepacks of ammo. $1,000 the DPMS flat top carbine offered by someone in SGN for $625, kobra collimiter sight, dozen orlites and some battle packs. $5,000 HK93, claw mount scope, buttload of mags and tons of ammo. |
