Okay, you electrical engineers, you!, get in here!

I've been reading a review of "Solar Crisis" and have gotten down to the point of, "Do we really need a talking bomb?", "Why do we need a talking bomb?".

MAYBE, for the explosives involved, a "simple" computer system just won't do. Maybe for an anti-matter bomb, one needs a very sophisticated AI system, a "living" computer system.

It's not too far out there for a sci fi fan like me. When I write about "Scanners" and cloaking systems, they experience waves of intense nausea because the mind is being told about "worlds" that exist in ways that it doesn't conceive and an intelligent mind must work out new ways to understand such.

In the TV series "Andromeda", one needs a human pilot or at least a living one for Slipstream because machines, even sentient like "Romi", can't understand that.

So why not say that in the story? Why not just address the subject that the "worlds" involved are  too out of it for a machine to understand?

Is "Chaos Theory" something for the common watcher to even comprehend?

Besides, by having a talking bomb, the actors guild is happy if an actor is doing it..........and furious if CGI is doing it.

What do you think?

I take it that one is not a sci fi fan...........nor for that matter, a Cybernetics (ie. Dr. Norbert Wiener) fan.

Point noted.

Talking AI bomb was done first and best in " Dark Star " .
Like Orphan Annie remakes, any copy is doomed to fail.

Chaos Theory sucked ass, then pegged it.
Like most faux-deep movies, it's greatest appeal is to those who like to think they are especially clever and hip.
A typical baby boomer movie.

NOT Chaos Theory the movie (though anything with Emily Mortimer in it is doing rather well)

but this Chaos Theory!

(shakes her head about the mis direction in popular culture)

I thought in Andromeda AI's couldn't navigate slipstream because of the Schroeder cat thing in quantum mechanics.

[GD Misogyny] first movies, then reality! dang woman jump from one tought two an-udder...     [/GD Misogyny]

I honestly have absolutely no profound thoughts on chaos theory.
But I do have a few old Maxwell Smart jokes.

But I do strongly believe in the theory that the universe is a hologram, distance is a property of matter and therefor FTL jump drive is a real possibility.

I'm a pretty big nerd and scifi lover, but I haven't a clue what you are asking/talking about in your OP.

Sentient bombs?  That's how Skynet gets started!

I think that taken separately, each individual sentence of your original post would have sufficed as a Snowleopard post all to itself, and each would have made as much sense at the combined original.
