Been a bad year for gun-grabbers here in ol' Washington State so far

The week had included lobbying from former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona Democrat who was wounded in a January 2011 mass shooting, and Gov. Jay Inslee.

Am I reading this wrong, or does this mean she is now going to other states trying to influence what they are doing?

Yes, she is. One of our state reps here got a call from her, and said the phone call was "too personal" and it turned her off from supporting a bill.

From the article it looks like some trash still needs to be taken care of though.

Pedersen’s proposal, crafted in conjunction with Republican Rep. Mike Hope, would have extended such reviews to cover private gun transactions.

Hope, a Seattle police officer, had expressed concern that criminals have been bypassing the current system of background checks and acquiring guns through private transactions.

Sinderman said the group would discuss future options over the next few days to determine whether it was best to continue with a legislative strategy or to consider going directly to the ballot with an initiative.
“One thing is clear,” Sinderman said, “we’re not going to give up the effort on this critical public safety issue.”

Yes, they attempting to influence all state level anti-gun bills - read Americans For Responsible Solutions.org

If by "acquiring guns through private transactions " he means theft, then he is right.

Too bad they are so hell bent that reality has to be ignored.

If you exclude King, Pierce and Snohomish county for sure very red.  The problem is half the state lives in those counties.

Also, this bill isn't 100% dead yet they can still do a last minute vote on it prior to it officially expiring from my understanding.

They'll try the "Initiative" route next. Of course, last time they tried anti-gun initiatives in our state, back in 97, it not only failed, but the guy that headed up the effort got shot in the back of the head at his computer, so...

Thomas C. Wales

Wales worked as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Seattle specializing in the investigation and prosecution of fraud in banking and business.

In 1995, a student at the high school that Wales's son attended brought a gun to school and shot and injured two classmates. Soon after, Wales became involved in Washington CeaseFire, most visibly as a vocal supporter of an unsuccessful 1997 state referendum that would have required gun owners to use trigger locks. Wales later became president of CeaseFire.

On the evening of October 11, 2001, Wales was sitting at his computer in his home office in his basement. A gunman avoided the security lights in Wales' backyard and shot him in the neck, through a window, with a handgun.

Maybe he didn't "head it up" (the initiative) but he was one of the most prominent supporters of it IIRC...

Right now Washington State has quite a few non-gun grabbing Democrats in the legislature who will not vote along the Seattle dummycunt party line.

Most are in Eastern Washington, some are in Western Washington.

This is good for now, we have to keep the pressure on them.

Too bad our federal elected officials are not the same way.

Did you follow what happened? That's what they were trying to do via a referendum.

In a final effort to pick up a few extra votes, Rep. Jamie Pedersen, D-Seattle, had proposed a referendum clause that would have allowed the public to vote on the measure. He initially believed that would draw enough support to corral the 50 votes needed to pass the bill but conceded Tuesday night that others had dropped their backing because of that shift.

General Information

There are two types of initiatives:
Initiatives to the People, if certified to have sufficient signatures, are submitted for a vote of the people at the next state general election.
Initiatives to the Legislature, if certified, are submitted to the Legislature at its next regular session in January. Once submitted, the Legislature must take one of the following three actions:
 The Legislature can adopt the initiative as proposed, in which case it becomes law without a vote of the people;
The Legislature can reject or refuse to act on the proposed initiative, in which case the initiative must be placed on the ballot at the next state general election; or
The Legislature can approve an alternative to the proposed initiative, in which case both the original proposal and the Legislature's alternative must be placed on the ballot at the next state general election.

There are two types of referenda:
Referendum Measures are laws recently passed by the Legislature that are placed on the ballot because of petitions signed by voters.
Referendum Bills are proposed laws referred to the voters by the Legislature.

Yeah, I saw that. It didn't work, though.

What I'm referring to is some group like CeaseFire or that that new group of fascists actually creating an initiative to get on the ballot. I think I just saw recently where they said they'd try that next. I'm not referring to the legislature issues at all.

Bottom line, if they can't get something passed by the legislature, they try to end-run around it through the courts or the initiative process...

They can still try a last minute vote but it sounds unlikely it will pass.

They will be trying some sort of UBC as a refferendum on the ballot I am sure.
1-The good thing it is an off year election so low voter turn out, a bunch of progun voters can turn the tide
2-we already legalized marijuana so those folks do not really care about much now
3-the last anti gun refferendum in the 90's had wide support into the 70% when introduced by voting time it failed something like 70-30%- somebody will come       along and give the real numbers.
