I have trying to decide on my next gun purchase for my 45th birthday.

I thought about all the modern type guns but they're not really readily available at decent prices right now and I already have a 1911 .45acp, MP9 and 9c, SW .38, .380 auto pocket gun, and plenty of ar's and shotties, I was having a hard time deciding.

Then I saw this thread and now I want one of these guns. I know nothing about them but I do know I don't want to add another caliber since ammo is so hard to find. I'm also not into doing a black powder thing. So can someone reco me a great first cowboy gun in .38/.357 under $500. I like the case hardened or chromed look.

I found a Western Arms Cattleman 357 for sale on gunbroker for $475. Used, but appears to be good condition. . appears to be satin SS with wood grips. I have no idea if this is a decent deal or not. I like the look, but that is all I know. The store's website said they would accept reasonable offers.

This would simply be a range toy, but possibly something to hand down to a kid at some point.

Any other pointers or things that I should make sure I consider are also much appreciated.

TLDR
Recommend me a geat cowboy gun in .357 for under $500

Yeah I know i thought of that but ammo is just to hard to get so adding another caliber to the ammo fort just seems like a bad idea. I may reconsider if I can find a great deal.

if you want the cowboy look but with adjustable sights get a Ruger Blackhawk. A Ruger Vaqero would be a good choice for the more authentic cowboy look., but I don't think you could find a new one for under $500.

Okay so I found a pair of uberti western arms .357 in polished stainless with walnut grips slightly used consecutive  serial numbers 5.5 inch barrels. Bottom dollar is 920 shipped.

Can someone let me know if this is a decent deal?

You should be able to find a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 for under $500.  They also make a convertible that will shoot 38/357 AND 9mm. (two cylinders)

45-70 single shot. Start reloading black powder cartridges.
