Looking to get a new watch, something a bit more fancy than a Timex.

Right now looking at Citizen and Seiko.

Didn't see a watch sub-forum and rather than venture off to another forum, I'll ask here.
What does the hive recommend?  $300 and less

Can't go wrong w/ either.  I prefer my Citizen Eco-Drive over the Seiko Kinetic.

Cb0000-6e or BL5250-02l both from citizen.  I believe both have rose gold versions as well.

Cell phones are the new watches.  I quit wearing one three years ago and do not miss it.  Watches are so yesterday

Just a tad over your limit but I like the look of the Citizen 8700

Any of the Eco-drive watches are awesome.

They wife's Seiko kinetic had to be repaired after about 15 years.
Not very expensive but my Casio and Citizen watches have never needed anything.

I have a Seiko automatic and wear it occasionally, it has never given me any troubles. Keeps accurate time.

Deep Blue, Seiko, Citizen, Orient.

All great quality watches with offerings close to or under $300.

I've been wearing a Citizen EcoDrive titanium every day since 1995.

I wear mine while swimming (salt, fresh and pool), doing yard work, working on the car, etc. Buy one that appeals to you and wear the heck out of it.

Same.

I got one of the f177 blackout models with sapphire crystal for my daily wear (I'm too hard on watched to buy anything else for everyday wear).

Pleasantly surprised.  My only gripe is that I'd like to find a nato adapter.

The same models run from 300-1000.  It takes a bit of time, but you can find them in your price range easier than you can find a Limited Edition g-shock.  They higher end Luminox just don't have a following for the price.

I'm a huge fan of Vostok Amphibian watches...they are generally pretty tough, and have "character" with tons of different combinations available. Meranom.com is a good place to get them, straight out of Russia.

If you like automatics, this Seiko has been surprisingly accurate. SNK805.

One drawback though, you can't "Hack" it.

The latter of those is on it's way here as we speak.

And I'd like to point out that between Hitler invading and Stalin relocating the plant to Chistopol, the two biggest assholes of the 20th century have together conspired to make it take FOR FUCKING EVER to get my watch to me.  Ten days from Chistopol to Moscow.

Casio, Illuminator. $20.00,  good for a couple of years. Longer if you have a desk job. Date, time, Alarm, stop watch, all you need. Need to know the time in London? Just buy another watch. It would only cost $480 to cover all 24 time zones! People spend to much money on watches in my opinion.

I do not wear wrist watches but my dad has a Seiko he has been wearing since the late 80's . We actually talked about it the last time I visited him. He has never had to bring it in for any repairs. I'd say he has gotten his moneys worth out of it.

ETA : Or if you want to be the life of the party get you one of these.
