| Best line in Ballistic: "Some girls buy shoes." |
|
Plot was horrible, the movie was poorly made, Antonio was a joke. but Lucy Liu with a FN P90 shooting, reloading, shooting some more on the move with proper stance and movement was worth every penny I paid for a afternoon get away. Lucy Liu was the movie, she look very good in it. most amazingly, I actually saw a lot of reloading in this film, which was very uncommon in the movie world. |

Am i the only one that find her looks mediocre and her acting substandard? I don't care how ugly or hot someone is. I go to a movie for a good plot. I don't give a damn if they are hot naked and dacing with tassles on their tits. IF there's no plot, it's boring. IF it's boring, it's not worth watching. |

Quoted: Is Ballistic worth seeing or a waste of time and money? From DVDtracker's review (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=145051&w=searchPop): Ask for one serving of LAME with a side-dish of LAME please, and this is what you'll get. .... Big fight scene between Ray Parks (Darth Maul) and Lucy Liu? Turned into a big snooze... |

Sounds like a stinker-Roger Ebert's review BALLISTIC: ECKS VS. SEVER / 1/2* (R) September 20, 2002 Jeremiah Ecks: Antonio Banderas Sever: Lucy Liu Gant/Clark: Gregg Henry Vinn/Rayne: Talisa Soto Zane: Roger R. Cross Ross: Ray Park Warner Bros. Pictures presents a film directed by Kaos. Written by Alan McElroy. Running time: 91 minutes. Rated R (for strong violence). BY ROGER EBERT There is nothing wrong with the title "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" that renaming it "Ballistic" would not have solved. Strange that they would choose such an ungainly title when, in fact, the movie is not about Ecks versus Sever but about Ecks and Sever working together against a common enemy--although Ecks, Sever and the audience take a long time to figure that out. The movie is a chaotic mess, overloaded with special effects and explosions, light on continuity, sanity and coherence. So short is its memory span that although Sever kills, I dunno, maybe 40 Vancouver police officers in an opening battle, by the end, when someone says, "She's a killer," Ecks replies, "She's a mother." The movie stars Lucy Liu as Sever, a former agent for the Defense Intelligence Agency, which according to www.dia.mil/ is a branch of the United States Government. Antonio Banderas is Ecks, a former ace FBI agent who is coaxed back into service. Sever has lost her child in an attack and Ecks believes he has lost his wife, so they have something in common, you see, even though ... But I'll not reveal that plot secret, and will discuss the curious fact that both of these U.S. agencies wage what amounts to warfare in Vancouver, which is actually in a nation named Canada, which has agencies and bureaus of its own and takes a dim view of machineguns, rocket launchers, plastic explosives and the other weapons the American agents and their enemies use to litter the streets of the city with the dead. Both Sever and Ecks, once they discover this, have the same enemy in common: Gant (Gregg Henry), a DIA agent who is married to Talisa Sota and raising her child, although Sever kidnaps the child, who is in fact ... but never mind, I want to discuss Gant's secret weapon. He has obtained a miniaturized robot so small it can float in the bloodstream and cause strokes and heart attacks. At one point in the movie, a man who will remain nameless is injected with one of these devices by a dart gun, and it kills him. All very well, but consider for a moment the problem of cost overruns in these times of economic uncertainty. A miniaturized assassination robot small enough to slip through the bloodstream would cost how much? Millions? And it is delivered by dart? How's this for an idea: use a poison dart, and spend the surplus on school lunches. "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" is an ungainly mess, submerged in mayhem, occasionally surfacing for cliches. When the FBI goes looking for Ecks, for example, they find him sitting morosely on a bar stool, drinking and smoking. That is of course always where sad former agents are found, but the strange thing is, after years of drinking, he is still in great shape, has all his karate moves, and goes directly into violent action without even a tiny tremor of the DTs. The movie ends in a stock movie location I thought had been retired: A Steam and Flame Factory, where the combatants stalk each other on catwalks and from behind steel pillars, while the otherwise deserted factory supplies vast quantities of flame and steam. Vancouver itself, for that matter, is mostly deserted, and no wonder, if word has gotten around that two U.S. agencies and a freelance killer are holding war games. "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" was directed by Wych Kaosayananda of Thailand, whose pseudonym, you may not be surprised to learn, is Kaos. |

Quoted: Quoted: Talisa Soto might be worth the price of admission. [:P] OTOH, what's wrong with this picture? [rolleyes] http://www.empiremovies.com/images/posters/ecksvssever.jpg HAHAHA Exactly[:D] |

Quoted: Quoted: Am i the only one that find her looks mediocre and her acting substandard? Hmmm a name like NAM, and no case of yellow fever? Strange...... Lol..Seen enough of Charles. She's prolly VC anyway. Sneaky little bastards. Needless to say, No, I do not have an asian fetish. Seems like that makes me a minority around here. |

It's interesting that Lucy Liu also stars in the anti-gun movie version of Charlie's Angels. There's an article on Lucy Liu in Maxim magazine where she states that she went through training with many types of firearms while filming BALLISTIC and she says, There was an entire wall of guns. I don't know if some of them were evem legal.". She also stated, "If I need to protect myself, I can literally pick up any gun and blow someone away, as easy as passing the sugar." But she also says, "But I prefer working with knives and chains and sticks, because it's more challenging." Whatever Lucy. If there is someone out to harm me, I take the best weapon to stop him quickly. I don't make stopping a crime challenging like it's a freaking game. Kung Fu may beat a gun in the movies, but in real life it's a whole new story. Hollyweird chicks can be attractive and all, but they seem to be missing a little upstairs. ArmaLiter |

Quoted: Am i the only one that find her looks mediocre and her acting substandard? I dont know about her acting, Ive not seen much with her in it. I do know that her looks fail my standards. There are some nice looking Asian women, she just isn't one of them. Jonathan |

One of the "snipers" in this movie is shown firing his bolt action rifle without working the bolt, like a semi auto. It's little things like this that tell me they don't care enough about accuracy. The movie was pretty bad, apperantly they thought that adding more explosions would save it from bombing at the box office. The operators in this movie also acted like pop up targets and not anyone with actual training. Reminded me of those Power Ranger enemies who get wasted by the dozen. The Kid |

I think ArmaLiter made the point. I seem to remember an article with the "Angels", who were bragging about not using guns. They said that they didn't want young people to think that guns were the answer to life's problems. So instead, they give youngsters some bogus take on reality. Dodging bullets and missiles with their quick moves and batting their eyelashes. Defeating multiple targets(some armed) by simply jumping 15 ft. into the air and giving one kick that will take out 5 people at once(guaranteed!) I'll still see the movie when it comes out on video, it looks like it has some cool action sequences. I just hope this isn't yet another star that will make millions off of gunmovies, and then denounce gunowners as the cesspool of society. |

Quoted: does he have a Benelli NOVA? nope one of those fabarm carbon fiber finish things. the movie was basiclly a bad action movie of late night cinemax quality , but it just had brand name actors instead of muscle bound no names. the tactics were about the worst i have seen in awhile except for the casino gun fight scene in 3000 miles to graceland |
| I caught this nitwit on some talk show promoting this movie. She was yapping about how she had to take training on the weapons and how some of them probably weren't even legal. Now for the best part.......she described the training as "terrifying". For those who think she is fun to look at, I have to tell you that she sounded more like some bubble headed soccer mom in the interview I saw. She sure didn't sound like a friend to gun owners. |
