Another small socialist dictator who held sway over his ignorant people largely by presenting himself as a vaunted challenger to the evil United States.
Meh, Venezuela gets the government they deserve I guess. Can't really fault him for playing up the popular tin-pot despot role, it suited him, and frankly it's almost routine for the region. Can't really say I hated him either, no more than you would hate a fly or a mouse. Just a nuisance to be accommodated until it has to be dealt with, and he's lucky his shenanigans never had to be "dealt with." |
