Been working on a real estate deal in Colorado for a mountain home. I'm from Durango and had a beautiful 11ac spot picked out within 2 miles of Purgatory Ski area (I refuse to call it Durango Mountain Resort). Was in the final point of negotiation... but I just can't do it. I spoke it over with my boys... who are both distraught but also glad. We love 'going home' and my parents live about 70m from the spot we were going to purchase. But, I just can't do it. I WON'T do it, as much as it pains me.
I wrote my agent an email asking her to drop negotiations. SHE was NOT HAPPY. I explained to her why, and her response was 'I know. Everyone is shooting everyone and the people that just want to protect themselves are going to pay.' which leads me to believe that she is trying to ameliorate her possible 'anti-gun view'. I never asked her about her views on the subject. But Colorado lost me... as much as I loved the land and the state... as much as I would like to have a 'place back home'... I realize that my 'home' is just a memory now. my Colorado was not the place it is now. So... with a knot in my stomach and much sadness in my heart... I say to CO... "pull your head out of your ass." |

It is the influx of those from metro areas and left minded states that have harmed Colorado. What will help us is an influx of those who will help with the fight. Do not let those who take your liberty, also take away the things that you hold dear to your heart....like your home. We need the help out here. |

You should have told the agent that the shooting hasn't started, and when it does, the fault lies with anti-gunners, both private citizens and their elected representatives. She sounds like she's too stupid to close the deal cleanly anyway. |

Let those fuckers know the ramifications of their decisions. |

Yup, I am a business owner in Northern Colorado. My family and I are looking at relocating to Wyoming if these bills pass and stand.
I am an avid outdoorsman and spend every available moment either in the plains or up in the high country. Never thought I'd even consider moving from this beautiful state I will miss Colorado, for its beauty and what it once stood for, almost heartbroken right now.

I lived in Durango for about 4 years. Never again. I now live 40 miles south just across the New Mexico border. I never go to Durango. It's full of hippies. The closer you get to Purg, the worse it gets. Why I also live about 40 miles south of Durango. Hmmm..... |

Good for you. We've been to CO many times and were planning on vacationing there again this summer but we are going elsewhere because of the Liberals actions. We enjoy that state and great people, but gotta make them pay or their unconstitutional actions. It's not just the legislators, it's also the ones that voted them in.
ETA: If the recalls are successful, we'll reconsider. |

Dadnatron: Good going. Im a Virginian but have been to CO many times. Not keeping up with CO politics, I just cant fathom what is going on there with this Democratic hate of guns. CO always meant the great outdoors and recreation to me. Not anymore. In NY I can understand the anti-gun sentiment although I disagree with it, since the city dwellers vastly outnumber the upstate folks who get trampled. Yes CO has had some tragedies, but I didnt realize it had so severely warped the thinking of the legislators. Good luck to you and to CO. |
| funny you should mention this. Last year my brother and I decided to we'd save up and buy a chunk of land as a retreat type area and possible somewhere to retire to. We researched around and decided we'd get some in BFE Colorado towards the end of the year. Even selected a region. He called me up yesterday and asked if I'd be willing to start the search over cause he didn't want to deal with all the bullshit in colorado. We're going to start the search over for somewhere else now. Sucks, but I think we'll be looking to Missouri... really wanted a nice colorado-mountain-stream place to go :( |

Don't give up on Colorado yet. I think the senate is a little more conservative and the governor while a Dem is pretty business friendly. I expect the mag ban and the gun lawsuit to be vetoed.
The mandatory background checks will probably pass. Plus the Dems spent a lot of out of state money here last year trying to turn Colorado blue. I predict Colorado will swing back red in 2014. |

Feel for you, I have the same issues with my birth State California. I grudgingly allowed my wife to have our tenth anniversary in Monteray last Summer. She is out there at least twice a year on business and always wants me to tag along. These are usually four star resort conference sites and I always decline as I am against supporting the economies of leftist authoritarian states whenever I can. It hurts me to my gut everytime as I was a Californian for my early youth and wore it as a badge of honor as a teen in a mid atlantic suburb. I still love the land and the idea that it once was in the golden years, but those days are long gone. Its like watching a daughter work in a whore house with what the left has done to my beloved. |
