| Lol? So far almost 2 hours in to the release, and anyone who pre-ordered through Origin can't download or play. |

Meh, Sim City is a propaganda tool used to make people think that central planning works. A game where you play the leader of a minarchist government wouldn't be any fucking fun, would it? Sim City is a fun sandbox where you can experiment to see how game mechanics interact with each other in interesting ways. |

It would basically be like Sim City, but all the controls are frozen and you can only watch. |

And when shit goes downhill, a bunch of fat guys come out of the basement with FDE AR rifles and depose the mayor. Of course, that WOULD make GD more pleasant, at least for a while. |

I kind of want to pitch that game to EA now. |

God. You'd think Electronic motherfucking Arts would be able to handle their shit by now, since they've been making games for 30 fucking years, but I guess not.
Also, way to cunt up one of the most beloved gaming franchises that even exists with your always-online jackassetry. |

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: well is it any good? My little brother said it was awesome, but you have to wait 20-30 minutes to get a spot on a server. ahhh the good ole days, when you bought a game and it ran on your hardware. Which is why I haven't cared about it. I have purchased most of the other sim-cities throughout the years, but when I heard they were doing this stupid bullshit with this game I said fuckem... |

I am most disappointed that Blizzard has gone this direction. SC2 and D3 can be real headaches sometimes, and the incessant changes that come with mandatory server connections really bother me. |

I think they usually set those releases at midnight pacific. Yup, usually the case. ETA: Quoted:

I think they usually set those releases at midnight pacific. Simcity's twitter announced the release at midnight EST, 9 PM PST. People with physical copies are playing. People who preordered through Origin are not. http://i.imgur.com/nwFvOp1.jpg What game is that? |

I won't buy it.
With online play, you can't cheat, and what is the point of building a city if you can't call down the apocalypse once you get pissed off at your ungrateful subjects? Quoted:
Company of Heroes.

Why the hell would they even make it an online game? Simcity isn't even multiplayer is it? Remember in SC2k and 3k (and 4, I assume; I never played it) how you could connect your roads and stuff to the borders of the map and connect to the neighboring towns to help get access to more people and resources and stuff? Now, your city is very plainly situated on a little region with other cities nearby, and you can interact with the other cities in your region while you're playing; and the other cities are being built and managed by other players in realtime. Which sounds cool, until you have to wait in a queue for half an hour to play the game alone on a 3-city region with nobody else in it. There's no reason that shit couldn't be done asynchronously. |
|
This does suck. I saw it and it looked like a blast...when it works...which is almost never.
EA tried to stave off piracy (even though a version has already been leaked) regardless of what they say in benefitting the consumer by making you upload to their servers for single player. That blows the big one. Maybe they should've been less concerned with who's getting their game for free and more concerned about those that are going to shell out the $$$ to buy it by making a product that functions. |

Can you sail one of your office buildings around "Life of Brian" style and take over the other cities? I would reconsider my EA boycott for that. |
