Had mine for about a month. It never set well with me. For the price I got a M1A and never looked back.
There is better options but you may like it. Mine was not very accurate like my FN PBR but who knows. Do i think it was worth the $1500? nope, not when a AR10 is about the same price and a M1A is as well. |

Looks like a really cool gun. I always wanted a .308/7.62. Two days after ordering it, I found a You Tube video on how to field strip/clean it. I think I may have fucked myself this time. For all of you FNAR owners...is it as bad as it looks? I'm scared. Really, really, scared. haha wow I skipped through a video of it…. I like my large frame AR

I kinda want one, but the complicated take-down process and the high price/hard to find mags have really turned me towards other rifles. really poorly balanced, very front heavy. I think that was true with the old heavy barrel. The new 20" is a light profile. I'm hoping the new 20" light profile barrel will correct some of that I guess this is what I get for buying a rifle without laying a hand on it.... |

| Holy crap, that appears to be more complex than taking apart, servicing, and reassembling an M2 bolt carrier group. Even that is fairly easy and only involves some memorization and nothing more than fingers. The M2 sticks out like a sore in modern battle rifles and machine guns and gets a pass for its complexity only because it is such a durable and reliable weapon. I am not sure what FN is thinking making a rifle so complex to field strip and marketing it to war fighters. IMO FN makes superb weapons for war fighters, but this one is just not practical. |

OP I've got the 20inch heavy barrel. Hands down the most accurate rifle I own. LOVES 168gr Federal. Outshot my buddies M1AEBR out of the box! Downsides, clearning, mag price. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l557/sr19871/guns2.jpg Finally...some good news! I needed that.... |

Make sure to try out several of the cheek risers and get a good "feel". I had to play around with several of them and move my scope to get the perfect fit.
Other than that, and $100 mags, you can't really modify much. I can't find the link or picture, but some idiot actually made his into a pistol, lol. |

relax and breath OP
1. yes it is as bad as it looks 2. On the bright side the rifle runs very clean and is easy to clean without field stripping. 3. Mags are easy to find right now and compared to the panic prices they have done nothing. my LGS has a stack 4. The FNAR is a very accurate rifle mine like 168 grain hp's. 5. It is meant as a DMR not a 1000 meter gun but a 600-800 meter gun no problem. It is heavy and front balanced which makes it better off the bipod 6. it is a far better rifle than an m1a or light barreled FAL. as far as accuracy. |

Boring looking gun if you ask me. ![]() Cause when it comes down to it, that is all that really matters, right? Don't question him! He is from Kansas...he knows boring. I believe function triumphs form. However, that doesn't mean you have spend big bucks on something that fell out of the ugly tree. |

Boring looking gun if you ask me. ![]() For the price I'd rather buy A FAL or M-1, don't see the point in the FNAR The FNAR is considerably more.accurate out of the box than both. Its also a softer shooter than the M1A and much easier to scope. Mine was an MOA shooter. Strippingng the gun is a bitch, but easier once you get used to it. However, the action runs very clean and I never found I needed oto do anything more than hose the action down with brake cleaner and CLP Its not a rugged battle rifle. More of a target shooting/hunting/DMR rifle. |

You made a great choice. Please don't be intimidated by the video. I've taken mine apart several times, and it's a piece of cake now. People usually compare the ease of takedown and cleaning with the AR platform. It is more difficult, that's a fact. But it is still quite simple, one you get the hang of it.
Now.. how do I know this? I own both an FNAR and a Remington R-25. So I have them both. Also, remember that the FNAR is a gas piston driven gun. So the FNAR chamber keeps cleaner than the AR platform gas driven rifles. I put a Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5 to 10 X 56 on mine. It's a deadly MoFo!! |
