ok i want to find out where i can get creditable info on how many CRIMES are committed by legal permit holders.

pretty much someone in my class is talking about gun crap and what not with absolutely no logic about CCW.  i want to be able to say how many people are shot by CCWing people in an ILLEGAL way.

does the FBI keep track of that?

Try google search for crimes committed by ccw holders. I found this and gets a lot of hits.
As to its credibility I have no idea but you may be able to find crediblhttp://hhshootingsports.com/WireShots/archives/2225e answers with that search. Remember, credibility is in the eye of the beholder...

Try this: Gun Facts.

Pretty decent stats site.

Good stuff on CCW and crimes starting on page 9 of the document/link.

Same states keep track of their CHL holders criminal offenses and publish lists.

A guy on a state level forum compiles all of that data for Texas..  As of 2011, here is what he found for crime statistics (CHL vs General population)

In 2011, there were 518,625 active CHLs, but only 120 total convictions.

Overall - The general population over age 21 is over 15 times as likely to commit any offense listed by DPS as are CHLs

Assault - The general population over age 21 is over 26 times as likely to commit an assault as are CHLs

Burglary - The general population over age 21 is almost 100 times as likely to commit a burglary as are CHLs

Terroristic threat - The general population over age 21 is over 20 times as likely to commit a terroristic threat as are CHLs

Prohibited Weapons - The general population over age 21 are almost 30 times as likely to be convicted of possessing prohibited as are CHLs

All of the Texas state data can be found here:  http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/rsd/chl/reports/convrates.htm

Basically, since we enacted CHL laws here in 1995, CHL holders have consistently been a MUCH lower crime risk statistically than the general population.

Hope this helps in some small way.

Thanks guys.

I am aiming to embarrass this kid in class after he goes on and on about how CO allowing students to CCW on campus is bad or something.
"Cause kids can get in a argument and the be like I'll shoot you".  Ya, he isn't smart.
