[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Newbie sight question

I am sure this has been discussed and I am sorry for the redundancy. I am new to ar15's (have one on the way). The front gas block on the one I have coming is lower than the upper picatinny rail ie not on the same plane. Can anyone clue me in on how to make sure I get compatible sites.

Don't mount your sights on the gas block. Mount them on the upper rail.

They make front sights that a taller to accommodate for the height difference in the rails.
