Ron Paul is feuding with his rabid fan base over the ownership of RonPaul.com. Paul wants it, but his fans own it. They're willing to sell it to him... for a price Paul doesn't agree with. So now he's taken the dispute all the way to the United Nations. http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2013/02/ron-paul-feuding-his-fans/61970/ Wow, this guy is a fruitcake. |

Lots of precedent on people getting there name back. The fans own the site but he owns his name. But he also calls for less government intervention until the government will give him something that he wants. I'm not supporting what he is doing. I'm just saying lots of people have done the very same thing |

Quoted: What's the problem? Ron Paul has always been a strong supporter of the United Nations, and of using big government authority to force individuals to stop doing what they want, right? ![]() Of course it's Constitutionally correct and Ron Paul is the only politician who abides by the Constitution. It's libertyness at it's very finest and most pure, we'd never have been successful in the Revolution without the assistance of the UN, ya know. How anyone could, in good faith question the obivious libertarian theory at work here is beyond me. |

i had posted this in the ron paul is scum thread, but what to post it here, for extra information that had appeared in the examiner blog edit - better title for thread might be 'ron paul ask un to take his domain names away from supporters' Quoted: Ron Paul files complaint with UN to get domains RonPaul.com and RonPaul.orgDr. Ron Paul, the recently retired politician from Texas, has been considered to be the leader of the libertarian movement by many around the country. His limited government and sound monetary policies resonated with many, especially those who had never heard such a message before. Many libertarians have fought over where they stand on intellectual property. It is now quite obvious as to how Ron Paul feels about intellectual property rights. On Friday, Dr. Ron Paul filed an international UDRP complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a part of the United Nations (UN), over the domains RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org. Fans of Dr. Ron Paul currently own the domains RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org. The complaint states that the agency is to take the two domain names from Ron Paul’s supporters without compensation and give those domains to the recently retired doctor. Dr. Paul had been a noted advocate of the United States leaving the UN in the past. http://www.examiner.com/article/ron-paul-files-complaint-with-un-to-get-domains-ronpaul-com-and-ronpaul-org you have to go the the article and read the sobbing and wailing over how the paulbots feel about this action.... ![]() oh... and as to what happened to all of the money that rp raised as donations? some of it appears to have gone to his croneys.... surprise, surprise, surprise! Dr. Paul’s recent UN complaint combined with the news that Jesse Benton, a long-time employee of Dr. Paul, had been paid $1.1 million by "various Paul entities” throughout the last three election cycles has left many Paul supporters frustrated since Friday. linked to I Friday, February 8, 2013The Jesse Benton Take: $1.1 MillionOpen Secrets writes:[O]ne individual in the [Ron] Paul orbit has moved into the GOP mainstream after his association with the family. Jesse Benton has been part of Paul's political network since 2007, when he joined the candidate's presidential campaign as a spokesman. Before long, the connection became familial as well: He married Paul's granddaughter, Valori Pyeatt, in 2008. http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2013/02/the-jesse-benton-take-11-million.html ![]() but that's okay... RON PAUL IS DIFFERENT! HE IS AN HONEST MAN! WHY DON"T YOU LOVE FREEDOM AND LIBERTY?!?!?!??? |

These guys bought up and registered the domain. They've been making money off of the site for years and they wanted to sell it back to him for $858,000, now apparently $250,000 dollars. When Paul got a lawyer and they realized that he as a case they started running around screaming that they're some kind of long term supporters who've been betrayed.
When you register a site with ICANN you agree to their arbitration process if a third party submits a claim against you. The World Intellecutal Property Organization is one of the agencies authorized by ICANN to arbitrate disputes. I guess it gets more page views to shout "United Nations!!!" as if Paul is asking some jackbooted blue helmets to storm this guy's office and confiscate his website. |

Umm . . . so what? You do realize that hundreds of people have done the same over the last 15 or so years since the UDRP was put into place, right?
You don't know that? Well, now you do. Hey, I'll even make it easy for you: click this and do a search It's the same with the idiots who were registering "DianneFeinstein.com" and similar names a few week ago -- all they're gonna get for their troubles is a UDRP filing against them, and then the domain will get transferred. BTW, I'm pretty sure Ron Paul has been around as a Texas Congressman since well before anyone posting in this thread was aware that the Internet existed (unless you were one of the few dozen military-academic researchers who dealt with it in the 1970s). |

Lots of precedent on people getting there name back. The fans own the site but he owns his name. This. RP is a massive douche, but IMO he is right about this. This is a flaw in the domain registration process. I shouldn't be able to just register and sit on your name or the name of your entity if you own the trademark, copyright, or if it is your actual legal identity. I am all for free market capitalism, but this is not that. And it happens all the time that folks race to register tons of names in the hopes that one day someone will need that site, or happen to name their company something you own and you can cash in for big bucks. Often times these dicks will threaten to park a porn site or something if you don't buy it. |

I'm very disappointed to see the man I once looked up to doing the things he's doing now. When he tweeted about Chris Kyle, I expected a repudiation of those comments and an explanation. None came. Now he goes to the UN for help over a stupid domain name rather than paying what it's worth to it's owners or just backing off. I can't say I'm sorry I voted for him over Zero and Mr. RINO, even with these mishaps he was still the better choice, IMO. But I agree, he needs to go away from public life now and let the movement he started live on without him as the figurehead if he's going to keep up these shenanigans. I believe in the principles he espoused (well, most of them, anyway), but I can't stomach the Chris Kyle comments, and the UN thing is just... weird. |

hmmmm..... it's strangely quiet.... seems like the more ron paul reveals his true nature, the more the supporters run and hide, or they put their hands over their ears, close their eyes, and start shouting "liberty! freedom! ron paul is the only one!". edit - and what? no comments on croney nepotism? edit2 - and if ron paul though his name was so important, he should have started to try to get it back in 2008.... instead of using it and his supporters just for campaign purposes. |

RP, along with most politicians, are not men of principle. They are men of "what's convenient" or "what's most likely to get me reelected". Adding pork to bills then voting against them "because I am against pork", turning to the UN for help after saying the US should pull out of it, the list goes on. Paulbots are just as bad as Obamabots are just as bad as Reaganbots. If you can't look at what a person actually DOES and SAYS and see the difference, you're blinded by your own stupidity. |

Either way, LOL at the idiots who supported this guy. |
