I'm not much of a technology buff.  I still use the free flip phone, I don't have a facebook account, and I've been using a netbook for 4 or 5 years now.

It's time to get something new.  I'm probably going to just go with another netbook.  However, I know several people that have those tablets.

I really don't care for the way the keyboard works on those...nothing to push down just tap your finger on it.  Has anyone recently converted?  Or maybe tried it and did not care for it?

Personally, I use my computer to watch youtube vids, shop, and talk in forums.  That's pretty much it.

So for $200 or so I can have a netbook.  Or I can get a tablet although I'm not sure what they start at.

Please compare them if you've used both.  Please share your experience and suggestions.

Thanks

Netbooks are dead.

Yep.

I'd shell out for a tablet like the Nexus 7 (if you're at that $200 price point) and then get a bluetooth keyboard.

Done.

I have a Netbook and an iPad. Wife has a Kindle Fire.

If all you are doing is browsing the web, get a tablet.

One of the too many tablets I have is the Asus Transformer with the keyboard dock.

Kind of the best of both worlds.

I don't understand, is that like a keyboard that is a separate piece?  How is that different from a netbook?

Also, as far as price, I'm flexible but I ain't shelling out $400+

Thanks

Yeah, after learning more about the comparison, I am definitely sticking with a netbook!  The tablet would just piss me off and probably end up getting executed with a .50BMG APIT!!

I just hope they never stop making these things otherwise I'm going to be forced to go back to a laptop.

Thanks just the same for the replies!!

I use an 11.6" "netbook" as a laptop for on the go.
It has a 17watt crippled i3, OCZ vertex 3 SSD and 8 gigs of ram and out performs most ful blown laptops out there let alone tablets and I don't have more then $400 into it.

Just get a tablet if you only want to do web/email/games though. They're just easier to use.

I have an iPad, and I'm constantly finding limitations.  I might get a Surface later on, but without flash, tablets are too limited.

The netbook and desktop see little use for surfing the web. I use a Tab ll and the wife uses an Ipad.
