Chavez may be gone for good. Not seen or heard from in two months. Link |

Quoted:
Does the world really notice one way or the other? Fidel Castro will shed a tear once he comes out of his coma and is told of the unfortunate series of events. Abdamenijab the future space monkey will mourn his official passing. The president of Arginetina will order flags flown at half-mast. Daniel Ortega will weep. |

Does the world really notice one way or the other? If Venezuela falls into a civil war it will. I'm going with "not even then." Venezuela is the 13th largest exporter of oil. While the U.S. gets relatively little of that, what do you think happens if Venezuela's export production goes off line while civil war rages? Basic economic theory tells us that the countries who import from Venezuela will be going after other exporters driving up prices world wide. And we have all seen from past experience that the price for crude oil is highly volatile far out of proportion to any economic reality. |

I doubt his successor will be able to hold it together. Hugo had a populist charm and swagger that appealed greatly to his target audience and made them think he was of and for them.Stunts like going to the UN and proclaiming Dubya was the devil worked. His opposition is stronger than support for his chosen successor.
Well,if he does finally go and is replaced by Capriles maybe Colombia can finally finish off the FARC. |
