No big deal, dont smoke or shoot that shit and you have nothing to worry about. some places have alcohol policies and if you have anything they call you impaired and fire you, even if you feel fine ive seen it happen, but it was probably just the excuse they had been looking for. |
| When I worked for American Airlines myself and my crew were involved with 2 accidents involving aircraft. One where I refused to push and aircraft with a defective towbar and as a wing walker watched someone else push the defrective tow bar to a breaking point. The other with an LD3 that ran away inside the aircraft and tore into the inner fuselage. Both times both crews were taken to the medical area, piss test, and put off the clock. I spent about a week and change in the street came back to work and got my back pay |

An individual should be judged by the quality of their work, not by the quality of their urine.
And add to that, it has been said that people use drugs to escape reality. So, if we have so many people doing drugs in this country, there must be something wrong with reality! Until we return to a more personally responsible and civil society, the drug problem will only get worse. What an individual choses to do in the privacy of their own home is their business. But if those actions may affect their work performance and the safety of others in society or workplace, then there needs to be some way to regulate or determine whether they are under the influence at work. I believe in the individuals right to determine their own course in life. But I don't want to be in the warehouse with some stoner perchance running me over with a fork lift either! |

I actually find it odd that we don't drug test where I work. I'd hate to see how many people fail if they did a random test at work. They only test for hiring or I've heard sometimes for some injuries. Been to the urgent care twice without a piss test though. |

I've worked in hospitals for close to 20 years and I've *NEVER* been randomed. One time they thought some narcotics were missing (they weren't, it was a miscount) and we have to go take the wizz quiz. Once they realized it was a miscount, I think they tossed the pee and didn't run it. Regardless, it wasn't a random.
Every other test I've taken has been scheduled. So, for all these years, I could have been a crackhead and no one would have ever known. |

Ha! Used that to my advantage before. Was a Maint. Super Tech., policy was just ammended to include alcohol testing, .01 to .049, you were sent home, .05 or higher, Terminated. So, finished my day shift, Engineer at work was having problems, wanted me to come in. Told hime I would have loved to, however, just finished mowing the lawn and had a few beers. So what was his response. Replied that I could possibly be in violation of their new policy, was threatend with 'insubordination', however, I was simply following their rules. As far as random? My entire Electronics dept., along with other Maint. Teams were called in at the same time. We never failed tests, hair, and urine. |

At the last place I worked that had Federal contracts we were subject to random tests.
What really happened is everyone had to take a pre-employment test. After that they never asked unless they wanted to fire you. Getting called in for a "random" test meant they were looking for something to use as a reason, and it was time to update your resume. Most people who got "randomed" immediately started looking for another job and quit as soon as they found one. |
We get random tested fairly often. Also if you're involved in any on the job injury, any sort of wreck (no matter who was at fault, including the other driver, both crew members get tested) or act "suspicious" . One of the companies I used to work for loved to test me for some reason; probably because I used to travel a lot and I was vocally opposed to most drug laws (I always got "randomly selected" when I'd get back from vacations). I always told them I was perfectly happy wasting their money for testing since I don't use any drugs and always came back clean as a whistle.

No big deal, dont smoke or shoot that shit and you have nothing to worry about. You're assuming the tests are reliable. Between poor procedures before the samples even make it to the lab and the drive to make the tests even cheaper and faster, they are not accurate.z |
