Hy guys, just left my local gun shop. Long story short, I am in the market for a .357 revolver, but want one that I can pass down to my son when he gets old enough.. Well they have a Colt Python, .357 with a 4" barrel and blued finish. The gun is immaculate and looks to have never been carried or shot much.... It's a consignment piece and they said it would 1800.00 out the door..... That was  with no kind of negotiation on my end yet, mainly because I have no idea what would be a fair asking price. He said he would hold it it until tomorrow for me, so I can do some research. So what better place to start than good ole' GD.... any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

Unless it is NIB I personally think that is high.

one exactly like the one you're describing just sold locally on Seattle Guns for 1200.

The guy even made mention that although 1200 was pretty high, considering the climate and GB prices it was reasonbale. . . . ANNNNND it sold fairly quickly.

I wouldn't spend a dime over 1400 personally, and even that's pushing it.

I know around here if I wanted that guy, and was willing to wait for a good deal (not like they're going to ban them) you can have one for 1000-1200

If as described, that's not out of line.  Better if it has the original box that belongs to the gun.

Too expensive. Look for an older S&W for about $600.

A little more than a year ago, I bought a 4" blued Python in perfect condition with original box for $1500.  It seemed fair at the time, based on my research of guns that had sold on Gunbroker, etc.
