cuz I can't search gd (yet).
good movie but not the action packed shoot-em-up depicted in the ads. think more "the kingdom" than "act of valor." it's a procedural movie that cover 10 yrs of arduous intel gathering and inaction with the glorious pay off in the end. my VERY great disappointment was they didn't show bin laden taking the rounds to the grape at the end. I guess bigelow was afraid of making al qaeda angry at her so all the images were shot at oblique angles and blurred out. also, the movie doesn't cover the aftermath, the DNA check and dumping the carcass at sea. this movie was TONS better than "snot locker." |

I read the book- " No easy day " before seeing the movie. The book went into a lot more detail and was good reading material from the seal's view who shot UBL I've seen that book recommended a lot here! guess I'll be hitting amazon next. 
zdt is definitely not as good as kingdom but kind of in the same genre, a procedural film showing the process of investigation, analysis with action thrown in as punctuation and denouement. |

Even "No Easy Day" gave credit for UBL's finding to one particular female CIA intel officer, although I recall Owen saying that she didn't seem to realize that UBL was going to really be killed after he was found. He gave the impression (to me, anyway...) that she expected UBL to be captured and treated to a country club detainment facility and she never expected that he'd just get his head blown-off on site. Otherwise, I presume that they had this movie in production at the time "No Easy Day" was released and, IMHO, there was prolly a shit-storm rewrite going on afterward to try to save their production investment after "Mark Owen" came out with the truth. |
