So my Co. is sending me out of town. {Augusta GA} Job is at Augusta National, Building the new Club house, will be there till the Masters. From there I go to Texas..
This is what they offer. *$15 day Per Diem *Room by job, but share with Co-worker {new guy/stranger} OR *1/2 off room if I pay for my own room The "room-mate" New guy is a young punk wigger, drinks and stays up till 1am or so.....has NO car or license due to multiple DUI convictions and assumes he is going to ride with me to Golf course everyday. 
So job will cost me around $200 give or take a week with gas, my own room, and living....My choices are Microwave dinners, or eating out each night. The $75 per week get's added on check. OR Electrical staffing Co. ....Local jobs, and a couple of bucks more per hour...but no benefits package..... |

Well, the Co. I am with have HUGE jobs {plenty of work} in 16 States.....a decent Ins. and 401k plan....pay is avg.
Compared to a Staffing Co. where work is hit or miss, better pay and no package... I have to return to Augusta Sunday eve. Or have wife pissed off by telling her I am going to drop this job... 
In the end...I am having to pay out of pocket to go to work......I have a problem with this.

Pass. I am a grown man. I wouldn't share my hotel room with anybody, except maybe a chick. She had better put out.  . $15 a day per diem? Bullshit. Someone is pocketing the rest. The least amount of per diem I have ever got for a job was $50 a day. Tell them to get fucked.

Granted its Gov per diem rates, $51 for Meals and Incidental Expenses ( M&IE) for Augusta, GA. ($8 breakfast, $12 lunch, $26 dinner, $5 incidentals)
Hotel rate is $83 a day. Are you at least getting mileage for the trip and riding around. Not worth sharing a room with a PITA roommate. If rides are given, have him pay for a couple of tankfuls of gas. |

I'm a construction worker and you getting fucked.
Our minimum is: Hotel (up to $90) $30 pay per diem $0.55/mile for travel (When drive personal vehicles, but we get a $600/month vehicle allowance) If its a rental paid for by company. I'm currently in the Bahamas and I get everything expenses and $70/day per diem. FWIW ETA: We currently have some guys in Augusta working and they are getting: Skilled Labor: $100/day Field Engineer/ Ass. Super: $50/day Super: $75/day Laborers have to pay for their own place to stay hence the higher per diem Management expenses housing costs. |

He is looking for another jobs now too since he JUST found out. We work 5-10's plus 8 on Sat. I didn't work this Sat. due my weekend with my boys. |
