not so sure which model to get. I am looking at the Comp M4 or PRO model from Larue with their mount. Anyone have any recommendations on which one is better? Thanks

Get the Pro.

I have the M4 and love it, but for the price, get the Pro.

I have the compM2 and the T1 micro.  Like both.  I prefer the T1 over the M2.

Meant M2 typed M4.  Maker's mark is clouding my knowledge.

Yep...

I prefer the micros but if I was getting any other model it would be the PRO

Ok so if I get the pro, which mount from Larue would work best for co-witness of irons? Heres the link with the mounts available for the PRO

I have two T1's and a PRO.

<3 both models.

Pro on price. Had the M4, sold it. If you can swing the M4 price I'd really recommend a T1.

I've tried them all pretty much... comp M, comp M2, comp M3, comp M4s, Pro, T1.

I'm order of preference I'd probably go T1/H1, M3, Pro, M2 on price/performance, M4 they are just darn heavy and bulky, M

Ordered a PRO Friday, should be here by Wednesday.

About the only damned thing you can still get without being raped is an optic, and not sure how long that will last. Price point maybe holding it down?

I think people paid ass rape prices or rifles, mags, and ammo and had little left for optics. Or they dropped $2k for a rifle, $1k for 20 PMAGs, $600 for a 1k ammo, and $75 on a Bushnell TRS25

I'm just going to go with the mount that comes with the PRO from Aimpoint. Any one have any issues with the Aimpoint mounts?

LT150 is lower 1/3 co-witness.

It is very popular.

But I prefer absolute co-witness.  It is easier for me to default to irons if I lose the dot, and it is lower mounted so that the balance of the gun is better in my opinion.

Nope.  It is very good.  It does not re-zero like a LaRue, but you'll be within a few clicks of re-zeroing.

The one that comes with the PRO is an absolute co-witness.

It has a big knob that sticks out the left side.  Not a big deal IMO, but noticable if you are used to lower profile mounts like LaRue, ADM, etc, etc.

I have two of them right now on rifles.  I will eventually switch out to a LaRue mount, but it is a very low priority for me at the moment as I never take the things off the gun.

So does the mount that the Pro comes with give true co-witness with a standard FSB? I've gotten answers of yes, true, and no, 1/3...

eta.. answered before I even asked!!! Thanks!

I use the mount that came with my PRO. I don't see a need for me to have a different mount. The knob is big, but that is good for mounting. After it is on I never noticed the knob again.

Would the LT152 mount be true co-witness?  It says it is 1.2 above the rail vs 1.7" for the LT150.

bought my aimpoint pro about 2 months ago and is still on since day one on the 6th setting. Battery life and the price was the deal breaker for me.

Pro is a great optic.

I have an M2 also, but prefer the 2 MOA dot of the Pro.

Love my PRO

Weakness of the PRO (and fixed in the M4) is impact to the brightness control knob can break the switch thus rendering the optic DOA. In the M4 the knob is physically disconnected from the switch itself.

So why is the PRO so much cheaper? What's it lose compared to the M models? I recently panic bought one myself, it seems nice.

That would affect the M2/ML2 and the M3/ML3 too then.

Very rare to have problems with those models under heavy use.

The intent was to give police officers access to a quality optic at a good price.  At first you had to be LE or a certain dealer to get them.

Now they are a standard model.

Aimpoint is still making money on them.  Their costs were sunk on these years ago.

The reason I decided on the M4 was battery life and battery type. I decided a while back if SEDHTF that the PRO battery could become hard to get. AA's are common and I have a solar recharger when needed. Also I jumped on the wagon and ordered from Botach when they were $499 which made a huge difference.

Go here to compare the two.

Have an ML3 sitting in a Larue LT-129 mount. Absolutely love the setup. That being said, I think anything Aimpoint is going to be good.

T1 in Larue mount. I cannot imagine a better red dot optic.

I just recently got a PRO as well, it is almost absolute cowitness. It is somewhere between that and lower 1/3rd.

Here is another discussion about it.

I did a lot of looking around before I bought it, as it is a lot of money for me.

There is nowhere to get DL13N batteries in my area... Walgreens, Walmart, Radio Shack... nope nope nope.  Supposedly you can use two LR44/357/A76 batteries (available everywhere) but haven't tried it yet.

The Larue LT129 mount that holds an extra battery is nice, Aimpoint also has an extra capacity battery cap for around $35.  They're small and last a long time, buy a few.

Yes, it would. There's a reason Aimpoint redesigned the knob/switch connection when they designed the M4 from military input.
