I googled and could not find an answer.  My question is, what is the function of the pin in the face of the bolt directly opposite the extractor on an AR bolt?  It seems that the casing would depress the pin when in the chamber.  So, what is the function of this little bit?

I was thinking that was what it was as I posted my question.  I have never seen a single comment on maintaining it.  Is there any maintenance needed?

Put a drop of lube on it, and depress and release the ejector several times.

If you have a whole bunch of rounds fired (like 5 digits) you might consider changing the spring.

Like I said, I've never seen it mentioned anywhere.  How do you access the spring and the bit itself?

alot easier with the right fixture but push in on the ejector then you can knock the roll pin out.,be ready to lose the ejector and spring if not careful.

Take the firing pin and push it out.

You need special magnets.
Brownell's has them.
