Last Wednesday I went to pick up a gun at my FFL which I had purchased off of another site (1894 Marlin 44 Mag). I had bought another gun (10/22) off of here the week before with no problems so I thought this would be as easy. My NICS, National Instant Criminal Background Check System, came back as a five day conditional (what ever the hell that means). So today, after my great and hard working local FFL, made three phone calls (he was hung up on twice), I was approved and picked up my new (to me) shooter.
I know there is a lot of traffic over at the NICS, but I really wonder why I was given a conditional? And I have a CWP. |

Quoted: I was under the impression that having a CHL excluded you from having to go through the NICS check.... Only in some states. I get a delayed result every time even though I give my social security number, it is because I was a permanent resident. OP - there are a number of reasons you could get the 5 day delay, for example if you dont give your soc security number and a felon has a similar name or address that can cause the delay.
