Does every crap movie seek him out or does he turn movies into crap?

[#1]
A little from column A, a little from column B.

By seeking him as the actor, they are setting the stage.  He just finishes the job.

I think it's crappy movies.

He was in a number of really good ones early in his career.

Rumble Fish
Birdy
Raising Arizona

I also liked "Moonstruck" and "Guarding Tess",
though they are not the caliber of the first three.

He had/has a bizzare and extravagant lifestyle that
ate a great deal of money and had to take lots of roles.

Now?  I don't think I'd have him in one of my movies, and
he used to be a favorite.

I really, REALLY like his southern accent in Conair. That was some PRIMO character acting right there. Yessirrreeee...
12/19/2012 1:05:29 PM EDT
[#4]
I liked him in KickAss.
12/19/2012 1:06:33 PM EDT

He was pretty good in 8mm.
12/19/2012 1:06:43 PM EDT

I liked him in Bringing Out the Dead

That's another good one I'd forgotten about.

He was AWFUL in KickAss.  AWFUL.

I liked Raising Arizona.  Other than that - crap.

Wait, I take that back.  He was good when he was the alcoholic in Vegas.  Whatever that movie was.

Leaving Las Vegas I think was the name of that movie and you're right, it was a good one too.

His answering machine goes "I'll take the role"

Nicholas Cage isn't merely an actor, he is a genre unto himself.

Who else has the range to be in movies like this?

National Treasure 1 & 2

Knowing

Ghost Rider

Next

Lord of War

etc..

The proof is undeniable.

I'm not a fan of Cage.

But I forgot about "The Family Man". I did like that flick and will watch it whenever it's on (mostly because Tea Leoni is in there).

I like The Rock. He's in that with Sean Connery. Another good actor that has been in some stinker movies.

Didn't he run into a lot of financial difficulties?  Maybe that's why he chooses so many movies that involve bees in a can.

From what I understand, those difficulties were self imposed.

Matchstick Men was worth seeing.

And Laura Dern in Wild at Heart and that chick in Zandalee were hot.

TL indeed!

Not a fan of "skinny women". I prefer hourglass with big tits and big bottoms. But she just lights my fires. Whether I'm watching her in "Fun With Dick and Jane", "Deep Impact", "Jurrasic Park"... I always stop when I'm flipping channels and spot her.

Leaving Las Vegas and 8mm were both pretty damned good flics.

Although Con Air was pretty far fetched...I liked it. It's hard to fuck up a movie with both John Cusack and John Malkovich in it.

I never could stand him. Every dramatic scene I every saw him in looked fake. Like in "Guarding Tess" when he and the other agent was arguing in the hospital and he shot the dude in the foot. I thought the whole thing was a good cop bad cop play. It was so over-acted that it had no credibility. Maybe if I never saw that my opinion of him may be different.

BTW: Got the same feeling in Ghost Rider. No credibility.

I really don't get the "super hero" feel with him like with some other action hero movie stars.

I can't stand to watch him.
