If you send a payment NOT as a gift and then look at your statement it would show fees correct? I am 100% sure I sent a payment as a gift and am.showing zero fees on my end yet the seller is claiming they took fees? New policy? Input appreciated

If you used a credit card to fund or partially fund the gift payment there will be a fee.

If seller requested paypal the fees are on them.  I never gift to people I dont know.because paypal wont cover the purchase if there is a bump in the road.

Paypal is getting 3% no matter what.

If you choose gift as the person sending the money, it tacks the 3% onto whatever you send.

If you don't choose gift, it deducts 3% from what the other person receives.

If you're selling something, there's really no reason to have people send money as a gift.   Just have them multiply the shipped price of whatever it is you're selling by 1.03 and have them send that.

Only wrong on the first point IF the sender is using their paypal balance or bank account to fund the "gift" (in those cases, there are no fees to either side).  ONLY if the gift is funded via credit card does paypal create fees (to the sender)...

Yeah I think that only 1 party is actually charged 3%, so that's why a lot of people specify in their price either Paypal +3%, or even Paypal +1.5% if they're willing to cover half the fee.
