dropped my droid razr ...whatever. Went to our local shop, they say I didn't get insurance when I bought the phones (3). I ask to talk to the salesman and they said he wasn't there anymore. I explained that my wife goes to Guatemala every now and then to see her family, and loses things. Thats why we remembered the insurance. Verizon says I'll have to by another phone, at full price. Folks I'm fit to be tide!!! Huh, ain't enough of them smiley things.

I know there's a few of ya here that are in Clarksville, does anyone know where I can get a droid razr. w/o paying $550.00?

I stopped buying phones from Verizon 2 years ago.  Their customer service seems to have gotten much worse over the last several years especially when you are under contract with them.  I'm still with them, but no contract.  There are several online cell phone retailers out their, I wouldn't by from an individual only established re sellers.  Try Just Cellular

They did the same thing to my wife. Only when I got rid of my smartphone she kept hers but they cancelled the insurance on both lines.  Not once were we in there for her line until her phone went tits up, they said "we" wanted both insurance plans cancelled and in short I told her she was full of shit and a lying cunt. Needless to sat when my wifes contract is finally up we are done with them.

Insurance is a separate monthly payment on your billing statement. If you have been paying it your statement would reflect that and you have proof. If you havent been paying it you dont have insurance. That simple.

I dont see where it is Verizons fault you havent been paying for insurance.

Cant really go out and buy a car, wreck it a few months later then claim you have insurance if you never paid a dime to the insurance carrier.

Black 16G Droid Razr - Verizon Wireless Carrier. I just upgraded my phone and no longer need this one. It is in excellent condition. It has had a case on it since I purchased the phone. Comes with the case and dual home charger. It would make an excellent gift or replacement phone for anyone who has lost or damaged theirs. New price outright runs $660 from Verizon Wireless. This price is firm. Do not contact me for trades. CASH ONLY. Contact me for pictures and I will send them to you. If you need to check the IMEI we can meet at a Verizon Store. Happy Shopping!!

This.  Going price for used Droids seems to be around $200.  Just be sure the ESN is clean.  Since verizon doesn't use SIM cards, they can "blacklist" devices if the previous owner didn't pay the bill, etc.

Call and talk to the "loyalty department." That's code for cancellation.

I just threatened to leave because I wasn't going to spend $500 on a phone because they sold me one that lasted 9 months, the replacement lasted another 9 months, and I'm still under contract, so it's the same price to just go to ATT between cancellation fees and the new discounted phone. Phone was out of warrant at least 6 months.

They sent me a replacement phone for free although you are in a different situation. Tell them you thought you had the insurance though, and feel like you got fucked by the sales guy. They want to keep you. They can also send you a refurb phone for like $300ish.

What the fuck are you guys doing to VZW to piss them off so bad?

Every time I call in, CS is polite, and I rarely wait more than 10 or 15 minutes on hold. My last hold was something like 5. More importantly, IMO, I get to deal with someone that speaks English as their first language, even if badly.

Sucks.

I had great customer service from Verizon.   I switched over from AT&T to VZW in 2009, and found that I would get full 3G signal at home, but it would often drop to the 1x signal with practically no bars.  It did that back and forth frequently.  I figured that I'll buy a repeater and set it up in the house to solve the problem... but I needed to know the frequency of the closest tower.  So I call Verizon support.  At first, the dude didn't really understand why I was asking for the frequency of the closest tower.  He then caught on and did some checking.  He found from my phone's history that it was switching back and forth between two towers, and that my residence was practically right in the middle.  We talked about the repeater that was going to cost me $150.  He asked if I'd considered the Network Extender (femtocell).  I said I had, but it's $100 more than a repeater.  He says "let me see what I can do, give me a couple minutes."  He comes back and says that he can get me $100 off the Network Extender, and found several at local stores.  I said I'll try it for that, tell him which store I was going to and he set it up.

That 45 minute call burned about 70% of my battery that day.  I got the Network Extender the next day, and later ended up on a 3 hour call with the then-GF, which only used 5% of my battery.

VZW did good by me that day.

However, I may end up switching once my current contract is up.  I like the Nexus phones, but VZW's handling of the updates blows chunks.  3 month wait for Jelly Bean on my Galaxy Nexus.  Depending on what is available in a year, I may switch back to AT&T...  although at the F1 race last month, I was able to get data and such while my roommate couldn't get shit on AT&T.  It was taking 30-120 minutes for a text from me to get to him.  LOL.

OP: As long as the phone has a clean ESN, you're free to switch to any verizon phone.  So you don't have to stick with the RAZR if you find a cheaper smartphone to get you by until your next upgrade.

Roger that, I'll just take the chip out and put it in the one I can get. I hope I don't lose any data, ie; contacts, email and pics.

As long as you were syncing your contacts/email/calender through gmail, it should sync up just fine whenever you activate and sign in to the new phone with the same google account.  And assuming pics/music were on your microSD card.

ETA:  This is why I always suggest making a backup if your SD card on your computer.  So if either a card goes bad or you lose your phone, you can always make a copy of the data.  Hope you find a cheap one.

I was once with Verizon. After my contract was up, I bought a new phone from them, the price was say $199.00 and I got a $50.00 trade in credit for my old phone.

They wouldn't let me pay the $149.00 difference at the store, they said it would be added onto my bill. A few weeks later after having horrible service with Verizon.

I decided to cancel my service. The customer service rep told me that I would still have to pay them $199.00 for my phone, I told him that I only owed $149.00.

He stated that since I was cancelling my contract that I would lose the $50.00 trade in credit. I told him fine that I wanted my old trade in phone back.

He said that he couldn't do that and that I still had to pay the $199.00. I paid it. I cancelled it, and there will be NO more Verizon in my family!
