I was wondering if any of you would have any ideas or pics on how you set your Plano or similar rifle cases up.  I'm a litte nervous to cut this padding out to fit the rifle and spare parts/mags into.  Any advice or pics are appreciated.

I am using the case for my AR15/13.8 Alpha Rail/Burris MTAC if that helps at all.

It's long, but full of good stuff. Lots of pics for inspiration too.

I was a little limited with the pluck and pull stuff, but the actual setup really maximized my space...

I extended the mag area on this one to hold 5 pmags and an area above that to hold 6 XD mags.

^That's badass I hadn't thought about separating the receivers.  I guess I hadn't thought about that since I'm used to normal cases.

Cgrants that's awesome, thanks for the link!  All the info I need.  I've done this to a small pelican dry box for  my GoPro when kayaking but the gun case kinda gives me a little anxiety

LT mounts really shine when it comes to fitting your gun and as much crap into a gun case like I did

That pick n pluck doesn't wear good.  The thread from this time last year has tons of ideas with these specific cases.

I'm starting to get way ahead of myself and now I'm looking into hot wire cutters to form the placements.   Might as well do it thr right way....right but I'm not very handy.

Wish they'd do that again. My local Walmarts never carried them. I'd have bought a bunch,

Not a Plano, just an old case I found in the trash. Scraped the old foam out. Free handed the new foam after tracing an outline.
Helps keep the wife's rifle secure when traveling and such...

I'll be honest and tell you I got flat out lucky.  I was at work when they went on sale and could not get to walmart for about 3 days or so.  I hit every easy walmart on my way home (7hours and 6 walmarts later) and found them.  I already had a few pelican cases so I've not used them but I'm sure I'll get around to it sooner or later.

I did my Pelican 3300 Case with a Hot Wire Foam Cutter from a craft store. I carefully traced my Rifle, Pistols, Mags and other accessories onto poster board. Then used straight pins to hold the stencil in place on the foam. Then cut a small slit in the foam to run the wire through to get it started. The secret is to move the foam slow enough that you get nice straight lines as close to the stencil as possible and fast enough that it doesn't melt the foam.

After watching a few videos I think the removables rectangles could cause some problems using an electric knife but I could be wrong.  Has this caused anyone else problems?  If I do mess this up can you buy replacement foam? I am having a hard time finding replacement foam for some reason.

I tried the guncase foam cutting thing... realized I'm not nearly as tier aught as I could be... pulled the foam out and now use it to store some magazines...

you have the "pull and pluck" foam now.  I just use an exacto knife extended all the way out.  I know that pelican case is easy to find but it's expensive as hell.  If you mess up your best bet is to find a place that sells foam and have them custom cut you a piece.  I know passing through Oklahoma city I've seen a sign next to an indoor range at a mattress place that says we cut foam for gun cases.

I finally got around to working on the case and it turned out alright I think.  Thanks for all of your help.  It would have been a lot easier if it didnt have the pick n pluck things or whatever you call them but whatever it works.

I dont keep the knife or loader in there they are just sitting on the foam.
